Links to relevant discussions (where appropriate): None. While looking at the bot's logs, I noticed repeated messages from DeletionSortingCleaner about missing XfDs. It seems that admins deleting bogus or retracted XfDs don't always clean up the deletion sorting lists, and other humans don't always do it either. May as well have AnomieBOT handle it along with the existing cleanups.

Function details: AnomieBOT 40 is already approved to archive deletion sorting listings for closed XfDs, and AnomieBOT 79 to remove duplicate listings.
When processing a deletion sorting page and encountering a listing of an XfD page that does not exist, the bot will check the deletion log for the XfD page. If a deletion log entry exists, the bot will then check past revisions of the deletion sorting page to ensure the XfD was listed in all revisions from the one before the latest deletion to the current revision. If so, the XfD listing will be removed from deletion sorting page.

- This is an odd one: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/End Day was originally created at a wrong title, then renamed to remove the trailing paren, then the redirect was deleted as R5 without being checked for incoming links. Someone later fixed the listing on Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Film, but not this one.

Approved for trial (1 day). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. Seems like a straightforward addition to the existing tasks for maintenance of deletion sorting lists. – SD0001 (talk) 18:18, 20 August 2025 (UTC)
