Nominator's rationale: Three single-entry categories for contestants in an individual year's running of a beauty pageant. "Beauty pageant contestants by individual year" categories do seem to exist (whether they should or not is another question) for some beauty pageants where there's a substantial number of contestants with Wikipedia articles to file in them, but are not automatically created for every beauty pageant with just one contestant to file in them -- and since all three of these women won the pageant and thus are already in Category:Miss Eco International winners anyway, there will be no significant loss of context.
Obviously no prejudice against recreation in the future if and when there are several people to file in each of these, but they're not needed for just one person each. Bearcat (talk) 18:35, 13 June 2025 (UTC)

Nominator's rationale: Newly created category of unclear utility. While adik (or caribou) is the name of a clan doodem within the Anishinaabe clan system, we just have the one general overview article of the system as a whole in which adik gets a whole two sentences of content, but not a standalone article about adik as its own thing -- and we don't have any other categories grouping Anishinaabe-related biographies by individual doodem either.
Further, of the just three articles that have been filed here, one contains no mention of the subject's doodem at all except for the addition of this category, and the other two do mention Adik but don't support it with any sourcing, so the accuracy of the category isn't even properly verified in even one of the three articles.
So this isn't needed for just three people in the absence of any substantive content or sourcing about it, or any sibling categories for any other doodem. Bearcat (talk) 18:10, 13 June 2025 (UTC)

  • Comment - There are tons of scholarly sources out there that go in depth on the history and the roles of the doodems. It is just the sources are pretty long and information is a bit scattered.     @Marcocapelle Here’s the thing I am currently working on a bunch of articles where the Dodem is a defining characteristic of an article.
    The articles I tagged with the Adik dodem are relevant to the biographers because a person’s dodem impacts what they do in life. The issue is that the biographies either don’t have enough sources or the people who wrote these biographies didn’t mention why the dodem is relevant.
    I am currently writing a few biographies where the dodem of the individual is relevant to the topic. CycoMa2 (talk) 20:47, 19 June 2025 (UTC)

That's not how things work. You don't create the category first and then plead for time to justify it after it's been challenged — you ensure that the category has already been justified, by making sure that the content and sourcing necessary to support it is already present in Wikipedia, before you create it. But adding now: by all means do create the article, even if it has no implications for the category's existence. Articles are the purpose of Wikipedia, categories are merely a tool. Nominator's rationale: WP:OCASSOC. Per longstanding consensus, we do not categorize people for their "association" with other people, especially as these people were "associated" with His Purpleness in a variety of radically different ways: his own backing bands, his frequent collaborators, occasional collaborators, people he wrote songs for, and on and so forth. And not all of these people were specifically defined by their association with Prince, either: Sheena Easton, Chaka Khan, Patti Labelle, Maceo Parker, Candy Dulfer and Mavis Staples are all people who already had their own standalone careers before Prince came along to collaborate with them once or twice, and thus Prince wasn't a defining feature of their careers in his own right. (Mavis Staples, for instance, was undoubtedly far more defined by her lifelong association and longtime collaboration with her father than she ever was by her brief collaboration with Prince — and as for Sheena Easton, I have to say that I still to this day hear "Morning Train" and "Strut", which Prince had nothing to do with, on the oldies stations far, far more often than either "U Got the Look" or "Sugar Walls".)
Certainly things like The Revolution (band) and New Power Generation can and should be filed directly in Category:Prince (musician), since he was obviously defining of his own backing bands — but they were already in that category and were left in it alongside this, so they don't need this category at all. But he wasn't a defining characteristic of every individual person he ever collaborated with, and we don't broadly categorize people for generic "associations" with other people like this. Proposing renaming of the following cats
  • Category:Morrisville State College
  • Category:Morrisville State College faculty
  • Category:Morrisville State College alumni (perhaps a split here depending on if alumni attended before school's name change?);
  • Reason for above requests is that the college has officially changed its name and cat names would be in line with similar cats (Canton, Potsdam, Cobleskill are examples) Soulbust (talk) 02:14, 13 June 2025 (UTC)
