Nominator's rationale: Both these categories are for identical purposes. All of the entries are for the PRC not any other form of China. Per WP:Commonname and Wikipedia:Category names in particular Wikipedia:TOPICCAT, we don't use formal names of countries. Categories like these with the formal names are overcat and are unnecessary subcats. One category can suffice. Also, both categories main article link is a redirect to People's Liberation Army.

Nominator's rationale: By long-standing convention, Georgia (country) uses a different naming format for categories from most other countries; instead of "FOOian foos", it uses "Foos from Georgia (country)". However, the category tree for Georgian TV shows is inconsistent in its naming. This proposal will align the television categories with Category:Films from Georgia (country).     @The Nth User: That's a tough call. It seems that U.S.-related topics can't seem to do without the obsolete notion of race and split everything along the major census categories such as African Am., Asian Am., Latino, and Native Am. I acknowledge it without personally condoning it. You have to notice that when a new mayor of New York was recently elected, his national background was a large part of the coverage received, at least as much as his politics. So theoretically we could probably keep ethnicity-based categories at the politicians level instead of the mayor level. Sometimes one must aim small in order to avoid a train wreck in discussions, so upmerging national-descent mayor categories would already be an improvement. Nominator's rationale: Indian National Movement is appears to be a synonym of Indian independence movement, and correctly currently redirects there. This category, accordingly, is a synonym of Category:Indian independence movement, and should be merged there. Unclear if this meets criteria for speedy merge or redirect. Actually there is a subtle and perhaps important difference. Indian national movement refers to a larger gamut of issues than the Indian Independence movement. The latter was focussed on independence from the British, the national movement was concerned about the nation building efforts at large. Many of the Articles, such as Discovery of India, Brahmo Samaj, Vivekananda, just to cite a few examples from a big list, would fit in the Indian national movement but not exactly in the Indian Independence movement.
That said, I must add that I am a newcomer here, and I happily leave the decision to my more experienced colleagues. Postbox 2 (talk) 06:48, 10 November 2025 (UTC)

Nominator's rationale: Both these categories appear to be for identical purposes. All of the entries are for the PRC not any other form of China. Per WP:Commonname, we don't use formal names of countries. Categories like these with the formal names are are overcat and are unnecessary subcats. One category can suffice.   • Support – The current version of China should be the default for the main category. If there is need to separate out people from other versions of China, that should be done with subcategories. I will note that the start of the nomination rationale has been copied from a previous nomination of mine, but it does not apply here – not all of the entries from both of these categories are just for the PRC.
