  • Propose renaming Category:Alsean languages to Category:Alsean peoples
Nominator's rationale: Two of the three applicable articles are about the ethnic groups, not the language(s). Arctic Circle System (talk) 23:35, 27 November 2025 (UTC)

  • Propose deleting Category:Sailors at the 2008 Vintage Yachting Games
  • Propose deleting Category:Sailors at the 2012 Vintage Yachting Games
  • Propose deleting Category:2008 Vintage Yachting Games
  • Propose deleting Category:2012 Vintage Yachting Games
Nominator's rationale: It's not defining for the total of three articles in Category:Sailors at the 2008 Vintage Yachting Games and Category:Sailors at the 2012 Vintage Yachting Games to have been at the minor events. The two other categories would then be C2F. Kaffet i halsen (talk) 16:11, 27 November 2025 (UTC)

Nominator's rationale: underpopulated category. delete for now. I've already added the two people to their respective art dealers by nationality category SMasonGarrison 14:38, 27 November 2025 (UTC)

Nominator's rationale: these two pages are already interlinked. this category isn't really helpful for navigation SMasonGarrison 03:55, 20 November 2025 (UTC)
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.

The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Armenians in Iran. Clear consensus to rename to Category:Armenians in Iran. (non-admin closure) GothicGolem29 (Talk) 11:47, 5 December 2025 (UTC)
  • Rename Category:Persian Armenians to Category:Armenians in Iran
  • Nominator's rational We have several categories that use Foo in Booian Empire, such as Category:Serbs in Austria-Hungary. The general view is that using 2 demonyms is very confusing. The reason to switch from Persian to Iranian connects with our article names. This will change the scope though. The heading of this article says "[Armenians]] who were born in or lived in the Persian Empire under the Safavid dynasty (1500–1722) to the Qajar dynasty (1794–1925)." That is an irregular heading for sure. Persian Empire is actually a redirect to Achaemenid Empire which ended in 332 BC. The polity the Safavid dynasty ruled is entitled Safavid Iran in our article. Why this scope. A more logical scope would be to have Category:Armenians in the Timurid Empire and then have Iranians in Iran cover people from 1506 on, including those in the less stable period between the collapse of the Timurid Empire and later. Although I have doubts that there are enough biographies we have on Armenians in the Timurid Empire to justify splits along these lines in Category:Medieval Armenian people. Since roughly 1500 is normally seen as the end of the Medieval period using the fall of the Timurid Empire to start the scope of Category:Armenians in Iran might make sense, although I am wondering if including any Armenians in the Timurid Empire in the Armenians in Iran Category might make sense. The category evidently currently excludes people from the 72 year period between Safavid Iran and Qajar Iran. I have no idea why. I am also less than convinced that the fall of the Qajar dynasty in 1925 is a reasonable place to end this category. I think we could have Armenians in Iran cover people up to the Present day.John Pack Lambert (talk) 02:09, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
  • We do have Category:Armenian people from the Sasanian Empire. That is the Empire that is wiped out as the armies of the Calif overrun Iran. That category has 25 articles. It lasted on the order of twice as long as the Timurid Empire. That maybe could be a sub-cat of Armenians in Iran, but I am not sure.John Pack Lambert (talk) 02:14, 27 November 2025 (UTC)
