Nominator's rationale: WP:OVERLAPCAT. These categories are both very small and generally duplicative of one another and there's no point in maintaining separate ones for Fate/stay night in specific and the Fate franchise as a whole. silviaASH (inquire within) 23:51, 1 April 2026 (UTC)

The result of the discussion was: delete (non-admin closure). GoldRomean (talk) 23:32, 8 April 2026 (UTC)
Nominator's rationale: Procedural nomination; consensus about a nearly identical category was to delete back in 2007. I'm not personally against recreating the category (I did so myself a few years back before being informed that it had previously been deleted and choosing to G7 it), and I think the argument for deleting it back in 2007 was pretty weak, but if it is to be retained the longstanding consensus ought to first be overturned. silviaASH (inquire within) 23:34, 1 April 2026 (UTC)

Nominator's rationale: This category contains 3 articles and a redirect. Moreover, all but one of the articles is about a multi-purpose venue which also occasionally has rugby union matches. One of them (SaberCats Stadium) is a rugby union-specific venue. User:Namiba 15:19, 1 April 2026 (UTC)

Nominator's rationale: Category containing only a single article (Tajikistan Airlines Flight 3183) on a plane crash that occurred in the United Arab Emirates. No victims were from the UAE and the crash was an accident. Useless for navigation. AusLondonder (talk) 14:56, 1 April 2026 (UTC)

  • Delete the article on a plane crash does not belong here.John Pack Lambert (talk) 23:42, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
  • Question: what do these editors consider is correct content for bilateral relations categories? Is it articles named Foo–Bar relations and nothing but? I understand some kind of clean-up is ongoing. Do you intend to also purge the larger categories such as Category:United Kingdom–United States relations (185) at some point? There's plenty of content about aviation and expatriates and trade there. Place Clichy (talk) 08:09, 2 April 2026 (UTC)
    • An appropriate article is Alaska boundary dispute which is about negotions done between 2 governments about a boundary. There are articles in that category that need to be removed for sure though.John Pack Lambert (talk) 17:43, 3 April 2026 (UTC)

If someone wants to propose a different/better name I would not object. I only put this in at speedy because I thought for sure that no one would oppose a simple spelling correction that is supported by every modern dictionary as the correct spelling in all varieties of English. 🌿MtBotany (talk) 19:34, 23 February 2026 (UTC)

  • @MtBotany, DuncanHill, and Mclay1: pinging participants to speedy discussion. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:34, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
  • Rename because it is objectively spelt incorrectly in every variety of contemporary English. I mentioned at speedy that maybe "humour columnist" could be better, but I don't know which is more common or whether usage varies by country. Without evidence, there's no particular reason to change the current name (beyond fixing the spelling mistake). At least the current name avoids any WP:ENGVAR issues. Mclay1 (talk) 22:30, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
  • Rename to Category:British humour columnists. The current name, beside being mis-spelled, sounds like a judgment on the individual's style rather than their specialism. – Fayenatic London 20:05, 7 March 2026 (UTC)

Nominator's rationale: This is less likely to be misinterpreted as referring to any painting of Christ wearing the crown of thorns, e.g. Head of Christ (Correggio) in this category, and clarifies that the category for paintings of the act of crowning Christ with thorns. The terms are interchangeable, and there's the same number of articles with "Christ Crowned with Thorns" as "The Crowning with Thorns" in the category (five each). The result of the discussion was: procedural close. Group nomination created (and now closed, with consensus to rename). (non-admin closure) GoldRomean (talk) 02:00, 10 April 2026 (UTC)
Nominator's rationale: Per convention. See Category:American men's basketball players, Category:American men's ice hockey players, Category:American men's volleyball players, etc. Dennis C. Abrams (talk) 01:18, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Problem with this: in Category:Male field hockey players by nationality the subcategories are all "male". Marcocapelle (talk) 06:31, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Oppose: The category should be named based on the convention of the sport not the nationality. I don't care if all the hockey categories are renamed, but it shouldn't be just one. Mclay1 (talk) 13:26, 24 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Rename the overall precedent is that for sports we use men's. It is time we started analizing catehory names on what is a good way to name a category and stopped making bad systems almost unchangeable by insisting people dwvote hours to creatd nominations to change a whole system at once especially since of you make a widespread nomination people will them oppose it and pick it apart because of irregular one-off exemptions.John Pack Lambert (talk) 00:10, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
We wouldn't want a "system" where Wikipedia publications would require pre-approval, though. I don't think that's the spirit. Place Clichy (talk) 16:48, 29 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Oppose as is, defer until a group nomination is created for Category:Male field hockey players, as for the women's category. WP:CFD#NOM explains how to create such a bundled nomination. Place Clichy (talk) 16:48, 29 March 2026 (UTC)

Category:Radio plays based on Doctor Who

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: merge Category:Radio plays based on Doctor Who to parent categories; rename Category:Radio plays based on Torchwood to Category:Audio plays based on Torchwood. In particular, the parent categories for merge are Category:Audio plays based on Doctor Who, Category:British science fiction radio programmes, Category:British radio dramas, and Category:Radio programs based on television series. (non-admin closure) Staraction (talk · contribs) 13:47, 14 May 2026 (UTC)

Add to nomination:
  • Merge Category:Radio plays based on Doctor Who to all parents. The Torchwood subcat formerly had five articles on radio plays, which currently have a line in the navbox {{Torchwood}}; all five were merged and redirected by the nominator, apparently without discussion. I have restored Lost Souls (Torchwood) which has non-trivial citations, but am not contesting the other merges. The other two current member articles are the first two audio dramas of Torchwood (audio drama series), so the Torchwood category should be renamed to Category:Audio plays based on Torchwood. Failing that, it should be merged to Category:Audiobooks based on Torchwood and Category:Audio plays based on Doctor Who. Lost Souls should also go into the same targets as the Doctor Who category. – Fayenatic London 09:48, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
@Fayenatic london Yeah I BLAR'd them since they didn't really have much individual coverage, nor any I could find, and individual AfD's would have likely been a time waster as a result. For Lost Souls, there isn't really much in the way of reception, hence why I did a pretty generous merge of everything else I could get into Doctor Who audio productions#Torchwood audio productions. That being said, I do understand potential contention; I will start a separate discussion for Lost Souls outside of this debate so we have a proper consensus on that.
All that in mind though, I do support the renaming of this category for the time being, and support the backup options proposed above. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 00:57, 28 March 2026 (UTC)

Give it one more week. Kingsmasher678 (talk) 14:03, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
Support upmerging to parent categories. Given that there is currently only one primary article in the Doctor Who radio play category, it does not meet the threshold for a standalone sub-category. Merging it into the broader "Doctor Who audio productions" or its parent category would make the navigation cleaner for users。 Fengychen (talk) 06:38, 17 April 2026 (UTC)

The result of the discussion was: delete (non-admin closure). GoldRomean (talk) 23:43, 8 April 2026 (UTC)
Nominator's rationale: Category containing only a single article on a "diaspora Armenian writer and humanitarian, who was appointed Honorary Consul to Japan of the short-lived First Republic of Armenia (1918-1920)." An honorary consul is not an ambassador. AusLondonder (talk) 13:16, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
  • Delete not only are honorary consuls not Ambassadors, I would argue they are at heart non-defining award categories that we should not define people by at all. It is not a job, not even a part time job, or even a voluntary assignment. It is just an award handed out to give recognition. It can be mentioned in the article if sourced but is not defining. This again demonstrates the draw back of 1 article categories. Something that is clearly wrong and would be removed immediately under normal circumstances is bring subjected to an at least 1 week discussion before removal because it is the only thing in a Category at all.John Pack Lambert (talk) 23:51, 1 April 2026 (UTC)

Nominator's rationale: Most of these sports relations categories contain only articles on participation at multi-nation recurring events, which editors have agreed do not belong in these categories. An example is Category:Greece–Slovakia sports relations which contains two articles on Slovakia's participation at the 2004 Athens Olympics and Paralympics. Another category of no use is Category:Denmark–North Macedonia sports relations which contains only a single article on Yugoslavia at the 1960 Olympics. Nominator's rationale: Category on bilateral relations containing two articles on secondary schools in Liberia, one now defunct. Neither mention Ireland in the body of the article. One school received funding from an organisation based in Rome which opened its first school in Ireland in the 1800s. AusLondonder (talk) 12:26, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
Delete per nom. Only other contents are two mergeable exptriate subcategories. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 20:19, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
  • Delete the placement of the schools here shows the flaws of loose form categorizing. Just because a person from Ireland may have taught at the school does not make it part of Ireland-Liberia relations. My high school in the US had a Chilean national on staff. That des not mean Sterling Heights High School goes in Chile-United States relations. This miscategorizing has reached absurd levels. We should remove every immigrant, emigrant and expatriate Category from these Foo-Boo relations categories. I am really starting to think we need a categories for creation process. Letting people just create whatever categories they feel like is leading to poorly formatted categories.John Pack Lambert (talk) 23:57, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
We have WP:AFCRC already. Why not set up a new WikiProject guideline at WikiProject International relations? –LaundryPizza03 (d) 08:33, 4 April 2026 (UTC)

Nominator's rationale: Redundant category layer created yesterday to contain only a single sub-category which itself contains only a single article. The biography was already appropriately categorised in two expatriate categories. AusLondonder (talk) 12:20, 1 April 2026 (UTC)

Nominator's rationale: Incredibly these categories are still being created (this one created yesterday) despite strong opposition from multiple editors at multiple discussions. This category was added to 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification – UEFA second round along with 12 other categories but removed by another editor. It now contains no articles. • Delete this category goes against consensus. At what point does an editors willful creation of categories that are clearly rejected by community consensus become something that we actually do something about?John Pack Lambert (talk) 23:59, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
@John Pack Lambert Yeah I'm beginning to think we have a problem here. Lots of editors have been topic banned for much less. AusLondonder (talk) 09:45, 2 April 2026 (UTC)
