Category:Skylit stadiums in the United States

Nominator's rationale: "in the United States" isn't needed for disambiguation at the moment. This is to be used by any indoor stadium that specifically uses transparent roofing (skylighting) in contrast with fully enclosed domes like the Caesars Superdome. — Dissident93 (talk) 18:20, 19 July 2026 (UTC)

Category:Bahamas national football teams

Nominator's rationale: per WP:OVERLAPCAT
National football teams will have different squads for men, women, youth, beach soccer, etc. The Caribbean sibling categories aren't consistent whether they describe that as singular "team" or plural "teams" but there's no purpose in having both categories. (We do sometimes see this pairing when one is a WP:SETCAT and the other a WP:TOPICCAT, but that's not how these are being used.) Both cats are tagged in case the consensus is to reverse merge. - RevelationDirect (talk) 03:47, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
Oppose. Delete the category instead of merging it into that. Because that's referring to the men's Bahamas team, which the women's team article can't go in. FastCube (talk) 04:21, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
Huh, Bahamas women's national football team is already under Category:Bahamas national football team right now. @FastCube: In any case, based on your description, I think your suggesting a reverse merge where we would keep Category:Bahamas national football teams (and get rid of Category:Bahamas national football team). If that is the case, could you clarify your !vote as "Reverse Merge"? (If I misunderstood and you're against a merge in either direction, "Oppose" should stay.) RevelationDirect (talk) 09:50, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
No, I'm suggesting delete Category:Bahamas national football teams because it's not populated enough (for now, there's not many Bahamas national team articles), and keep Category:Bahamas national football team because it is populated enough as an eponymous category. Just keep Bahamas women's national football team out of Category:Bahamas national football team because they're two seperate teams. FastCube (talk) 23:07, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for clarifying. RevelationDirect (talk) 00:40, 22 June 2026 (UTC)

  • Comment (as nominator) No objection if the consensus is to keep both cats and repurpose them. If that is the close, this should go to the working/manual process to move around some of the current articles, make the "teams" category a parent of the "team" one, and change some of their existing parent categories to avoid the current overlap. - RevelationDirect (talk) 17:02, 21 June 2026 (UTC)

My thought remains unchanged... GiantSnowman 18:13, 19 July 2026 (UTC)
Since there's not a consensus for my original merge suggestion, I would favor Fastcube's proposal to delete Category:Bahamas national football teams as a second choice (as opposed to GiantSnowman's proposal to make it a parent category). RevelationDirect (talk) 23:41, 19 July 2026 (UTC)

Nominator's rationale: merge, follow-up on Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2026_July_2#Years_in_the_Spanish_Indies. The previous nomination did not contain the 19th century, but in retrospect that was only an issue in option A (merge to New Spain), while option B was the preferred option. Nominator's rationale: Eponymous category for a small unincorporated community with a population of 37, with so few related topics that even the one other thing filed here has an article that describes it as near Lenox rather than in Lenox.
As always, every place that exists does not automatically get its own eponymous category as a matter of course -- a large town or city that has a lot of related spinoff content can have one, but a small town doesn't automatically get one just to categorize a single thing as being near it. Nominator's rationale: Small category for a non-defining characteristic. Per longstanding consensus, we do not categorize people for what elementary school they attended. Bearcat (talk) 16:08, 19 July 2026 (UTC)
Hi Bearcat! Even after this many years on Wikipedia, I'm still always trying new things and learning, if this is longstanding consensus, there is no reason to do this categorization on a page with such a small number of people. I support deleting this category in that case, even if I think certain elementary schools like Mirman School could have more of a category. PickleG13 (talk) 18:58, 19 July 2026 (UTC)

  • Delete As I was told when I was an employee of Detroit Public Schools, the only graduation that Detroit Public Schools conducts is for those completing the 12th grade and receiving their diploma. Being an alumni of a high school is a thing, being an alumni of an elementary school is not. This is a clearly bad idea for categorization.John Pack Lambert (talk) 15:52, 20 July 2026 (UTC)

Nominator's rationale: Upmerge. There's no reason to isolate these two categories from the rest of the tree. At present, there isn't a sculptors by medium tree, which makes this category even more isolated. SMasonGarrison 14:28, 19 July 2026 (UTC)

Category:18th-century Swiss draughtsmen

Nominator's rationale: Underpopulated category tree, there are only 4 people in the entire Swiss draughtsmen tree, so there's really no need to diffuse by century SMasonGarrison 14:16, 19 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Merge per nom. There is not even a Category:18th-century draughtsmen and Category:19th-century draughtsmen as a second merge target. Marcocapelle (talk) 16:01, 19 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Merge per nom. Side note: I just went down the rabbit hole of what this category even means. Draughtsman indicates it means
1) An architectural drafter, who produced architectural drawings until the late 20th century
2) An artist who produces drawings that rival or surpass their other types of artwork
3) A drafter who prepares technical drawings
1 and 3 seem to overlap when you read Architectural_drawing#Drafting and Drafter. 2 is in the category header of Draughtsmen. Yet that definition appears rather obscure to the point of being completely obsolete. Also the wording is quite vague "drawings that rival or surpass their other types of artwork". Then if you take a peek at previous CfDs:
Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2019_December_20#Category:Drawers_(artists)
Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2020_January_23#Category:Draughtsmen
Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2024_February_8#Category:Draughtsmen
As one user noted in the 2020 CfD, perhaps most, of the articles in this category and its subcats are artists in the medium of drawing (the second meaning given in Draughtsman, which is a disambiguation page), rather than people who make technical drawings, which is the scope of Drafter. All around confusing. I'm not sure what the answer is. But the current naming is certainly inappropriate if both Draughtsman is a dab page and all dictionaries principally define it as someone who produces technical drawings. The category is very much not populated with such articles. Οἶδα (talk) 06:50, 20 July 2026 (UTC)
    • It may be that the use of draughtsmen for drawing artist is obsolete, but the vast majority of articles we have that use the term are in cases of people who were drawing artists. It is also the term I believed used in many or our sources, but a lot of those are dated. At one point I tried to convinced people we should rename this category to Category:Drawers (artists) since I still believe this is the most clear and at present the most actually common name for these people. We cannot call it just drawers, because a drawer is a part of a cabinet or desk, and also because the term drawer is also used in such phrases as "drawer of water" to refer to people who draw water out. The second might not be common enough to confuse, but the first is. I have tried to ensure these categories only contain draughtsmen who were drawing artists, but I do find that the ambiguity of the term leads to confusion. I would support a rename.John Pack Lambert (talk) 20:05, 21 July 2026 (UTC)

Category:Arabic musical instruments

Nominator's rationale: "Arabic" only refers to the language. Use of it to refer to the people or anything other than the language is incorrect. HerrHeulsuse (talk) 13:05, 19 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Alt rename to Category:Middle Eastern musical instruments, very few of these instruments are specifically related to Arab ethnicity. Marcocapelle (talk) 14:21, 19 July 2026 (UTC)
We don't have an article on that and the definition on the middle east is not clearly defined. This category that you are proposing is something else entirely (a regional grouping) rather than a cultural/ethnic one. This should be deleted and that should be created, this should not be renamed to that, if such a thing, as you propose, should occur at all. HerrHeulsuse (talk) 17:00, 25 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Oppose The proposed change doesn't seem like an improvement. When I was in college, I was in the Middle East Ensemble because many of the instruments were from North Africa but were not specificly "Arabic". But "Arabic" seems like a better adjective than "Arab". Liz Read! Talk! 04:39, 20 July 2026 (UTC)
    @Liz: Do you support Marcocapelle's rename proposal? –LaundryPizza03 (d) 06:45, 23 July 2026 (UTC)
I am sure an experienced Wikipedia user like yourself will understand that American college ensembles are not reliable sources for such things. Also, the difference between an Arab and a Berber in North Africa is purely self-identification. Culturally, a musical instrument from North Africa is called whatever the reliable sources call it. Now, you are not even disputing this. You are just saying that it seems aesthetically better, from my understanding of what you wrote. This source affirms that Arabic should not be used in this case @Liz HerrHeulsuse (talk) 17:05, 25 July 2026 (UTC)
  • Keep in line with Category:Arabic music. Al-Andalusi (talk) 17:25, 20 July 2026 (UTC)

Nominator's rationale: I think this should be renamed to "Arab clothing", since "Arabic" only refers to the language. Use of it to refer to the people or anything other than the language is incorrect. Other categories follow this, like Category:Arab culture HerrHeulsuse (talk) 13:00, 19 July 2026 (UTC)

Category:Paratriathlon at the 2016 Summer Paralympics

Nominator's rationale: either merge to Category:Triathlon at the 2016 Summer Paralympics or clearly give the difference between both categories on both category pages.

If merging I have no preference on which category name to keep. Robby (talk) 07:26, 19 July 2026 (UTC)

Similar for Category:Paratriathlon at the Summer Paralympics which is roughly the same as Category:Triathlon at the Summer Paralympics Robby (talk) 16:15, 19 July 2026 (UTC)

Category:Anti-LGBTQ Christian organizations

Nominator's rationale: Or rename Category:Islamic organizations that oppose LGBTQ rights to Anti-LGBTQ Islamic organizations. The first option is wordier but more consistent with the parent category. Qualiesin (talk) 18:37, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
I think this makes the most sense. "Opposing LGBTQ rights" is not the same thing as "Anti-LGBTQ." pauliesnug (message / contribs) 02:09, 20 July 2026 (UTC)
