I understand that Category:Bilateral sports relations by country exists, but these categories should be titled like Ireland–Malta sports relations to accurately reflect the contents then, because the implication is still diplomatic relations. • Nominator's rationale What matters with populated places is what de facto political entity was in control of the people who were doing the act of founding the populated place. If they are in a colonial empire we do not want to imply they were doing things in the main country if they were in a colonial area. On the other hand we do not want to anachronistically associate them with a country that existed after the fact. We have essentially no articles on people who founded a populated place in Spain after 1490, which is about the earliest we could say there was a de facto Spain (tecnically in the 1530s or so Juana was the ruling Queen of the Crown of Catille, while her father Fernando was the ruling king of the Crown of Aragon, but Fernando had Juana declared unfit to rule, so de facto we can consider Spain one unit from about 1490, but populated place foundings there almost all pre-date that year). Everyone in the Spanish category either founded a populated place before Spain was, or in almost all the cases we have in the article founded populated places in other entities. • Keep - this is an odd one. Having players categorised by domestic league competition is standard, see e.g. Category:English Football League players - but this is not a standard league. The state leagues are classed by WP:FOOTBALL consensus as domestic league (i.e. counted in the infobox), see Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Consensus#Brazilian league and state league. As such, I think the categories are valid. If the league has enough red linked players, then the category is valid - see Category:Men's footballers in England by competition, for example. @GiantSnowman: thanks for your reply. I'm still a little confused procedurally on why you've untagged & removed the nominations of the other two categories. My interpretation of WP:XFDCLOSE is that generally, in this scenario, all the pages under discussion should be tagged and the discussion relisted, which is what I'd done. Similarly, WP:CFDAI gives tag the category pages and relist the discussion on the current day's CfD log as an alternative to a procedural close. As far as I can tell, this approach is what some others use here as well (e.g. 1, 2, 3).

I have noticed that Category:Campeonato Catarinense players's creator was not notified of the discussion with my tag. I'm happy to relist again with all three categories and notify the creator upon relisting, if you find that an acceptable solution? Thanks again for your input. • Reverse merge per above. Category:Songs written for Indian films is the older category, so it makes sense to merge into that one. "Songs written for Indian films" matches the subcategories Songs written for Hindi-language films, Songs written for Malayalam films, Songs written for Marathi-language films, Songs written for Tamil films, etc. I don't see why this categorization would be named any different simply because India supposedly has a dedicated word for it. Also the word isn't great for categorization because it seems to be a vague colloquialism because it supposedly refers to Hindi film music most of the time. I would look into renaming Category:Filmi as well, to bring it in line with Film music, perhaps Category:Indian film music?. Also renaming Category:Filmi albums and Category:Filmi soundtracks (what's the difference?). Also I went through every single source at Filmi and none of them even use the term "Filmi" except one 20-year-old archived screening listing from UCLA. While there are some categories for people whose careers have been prominently and definingly associated with certain major national media outlets, they're named "X people", not "X alumni", and I can find little to no evidence of similar categories existing for single-market local services at the university level.
There are just two people here, but this isn't what either of them are notable for -- they both have other notability claims deriving from commercial media work after graduating university, rather than being notable because of university media work per se. So they're not defined by their temporary association in their youth with a student media outlet that doesn't even have a Wikipedia article. Broader comment: There is a general problem in many or most historical categories of someone trying to sort historical people and places by modern borders when it doesn't make much sense. There are sets of years or centuries that seem to mean different things in different years or centuries: citizenship, language, ethnicity, etc. but all together in a set, e.g. "Spanish", "Greek", or "Turkish". I created Category:People from the Malay Archipelago so we would have a category to put people in from the area without assigning them to modern states that did not exist during their lifetime. In the case of "Turkish" we have come to an understanding we use it to refer to people and things connected to the state of Turkey formed in 1923, and other terms such as Category:People from the Ottoman Empire and Turk people are used before that point. Pre-1490 Spain and the situation with Greece are more complex. There are some editors who insist on preserving ambiguity in these categories. There is no corresponding category of location + group for other attacks. It would be better to give the categories a versatile name rather than exclude some pages from group + location. Unambiguous terrorist incidents can go in Category:Islamic State terrorist incidents by year and Category:Terrorist incidents in Balochistan, Pakistan (or Category:Terrorist incidents in Quetta), rather than trying to combine group + location + terrorist incident.   If the only reason to label it terrorism is "attack by a terrorist group" then "terrorist" is a feature of the group not the event. I would suggest having only the attack layer for the countries, and attaching "terrorist" only to "ISIS terrorist incidents by year" (2014-2026) set, which all have enough pages to warrant it.   Their attacks outside war zones are mostly unambiguous terrorism, but they are also involved in insurgencies where they do things that aren't as widely described as terrorism. Some of this is attacks on military, militant, or mercenary groups, and these are usually only described as terrorism by the military who got attacked, because attacking on duty military in a war zone doesn't fit some definitions of terrorism. At the other end of the spectrum are genocidal massacres in territory ISIS controlled or were the process of conquering those are more often described as war crimes or genocide.     @Marcocapelle, I think we only need one layer and it should be "attacks", because most groups have an "attacks" category. It fits better with the other trees. The group can go in "groups designated terrorist by..." and events can go in "terrorist incidents in (place)". The ISIL terrorist incidents by year set is somewhat useful if used sparingly, but ISIL terrorist incidents by country has more subcategories and most don't contain enough events to split into two layers.   Most events in there fit a broad definition of terrorism, but when I've categorised other pages based on "fits a broad definition" people have told me that's wrong. Some of the pages have no sources or only biased sources to support the label terrorism.

  If we apply the standard strictly and consistently, and we should, some of them should be moved to Category:Islamic State attacks in Asia unless / until someone adds better sources.

  I think we should have just the who (ISIL) and where (Pakistan, or Balochistan), and categorise as "terrorist incidents" separately, instead of combining three different variables. Late Night Coffee (ping me) 07:52, 9 June 2026 (UTC)

  Example 2016 Khuzdar bombing is a stub, it it has enough sources that a full page probably can be written if someone gets the time and motivation to do that. But currently it's a one paragraph stub, that only says ISIL + Balochistan, it doesn't say currently say "terrorism" or "terrorist". It was previously in Category:Islamic State terrorist incidents in Pakistan, it possibly should have been in Category:Islamic State and Pakistan instead.
