Nominator's rationale: 800437516a (talk · contribs) attempted to nominate this category at AfD, which is the wrong venue for any and all non-mainspace pages. Their rationale is as follows:

Unnecesary road category when Category:Main Roads and Motorways in Cyprus exists
User:800437516a 15:31, 12 June 2026 (UTC)

In actualitly, Category:Main Roads and Motorways in Cyprus does not exist. However, Category:Motorways and roads in Cyprus does exist as a subcategory (and is actually older than its own parent category), hence why I am interpreting this as an attempt to propose the merger of the two. (As this was the initially-nominated category, it is being nominated as such this time too; however, a merger could easily go in the other direction as well.) While I suspect having both categories is indeed a bit much, I am neutral and have no fully-specific opinion. WCQuidditch 20:53, 12 June 2026 (UTC)

  • Delete (or merge), having both categories is indeed a bit much. Marcocapelle (talk) 21:43, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
Thank you, I did indeed mean to merge the categories Roads in Cyprus and Motorways and roads in Cyprus, frankly I'm a bit miffed that I confused that latter category. I would now prefer if the latter was merged with the former though instead of the other way around 800437516a (talk) 06:43, 13 June 2026 (UTC)

Most of the subcategories are listed with demonyms, e.g. Category:Australian youth culture, but some are inconsistent: Category:Youth culture in the United States, Category:Youth culture in the United Kingdom, and Category:Youth culture in the Soviet Union. Should these be changed to Category:American youth culture, Category:British youth culture, and Category:Soviet youth culture? Or should the other ones be changed to correspond, e.g. Category:Youth culture in Australia?

Propose merging Category:South African trillionaires (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) to Category:South African billionaires
  • Merge the three nationality cats for now (which collectively hold 1 article) and the parent cat. Delete the intermediate categories. All these are currently actually the result of some stock market trading. This might prove fleeting. For now we can consider billionaires to cover anyone whose net worth has ever been in excess of $1 billion US dollars. Or for each nationality is this 1 billion of the currency of that country? We should hold off on creating this is acategory until there are at least 10 articles that can be placed in it. We should leave the by nationality subcategories at billionaires until there are at least 5 articles in any given nationality that belong in the billionaire category. Editors should also refrain from announcing value judgements in category nomination. People should not be placed in a situation where they are seen to be supporting extraneous value judgements when they express a view on a nomination.John Pack Lambert (talk) 01:16, 14 June 2026 (UTC)

Nominator's rationale: Per existing precedent, rename categories to make it more clear that they are to be used when the film is about the sport in question. DonIago (talk) 14:16, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
  • Rename for consistency. Marcocapelle (talk) 14:54, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
  • Rename for consistency. I would also support renaming those at Sports films by sport and Films by war and so on. Films by genres are configured with the genre before "film". But individual sports/wars/etc are just one of various topics of a film can be about, not genres. And the topic(s) a creative work is categorized by should be defining, and per CfD precedent "about [topic]" is the clearest way to represent that. Οἶδα (talk) 20:46, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
I did a really large one of these a few years back as what I think was the first real test case, and since then I've picked up a bunch more, but it's impossible (for me, anyway) to catch all of them. You're welcome to set up another CfD though, and if you link me to it I'll probably support it. There are a few cases where it's probably best not to change them, but I think those are few and far between. Cheers. DonIago (talk) 00:22, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
If it helps, there's a Mass CFD tool I can link you to if you don't already have it. It's what I used to set up this one. DonIago (talk) 00:23, 14 June 2026 (UTC)
Yeah I've used Mass CfD before. And I wasn't suggesting you add any more to your nomination here. If I was more confident that the tides were moving in this direction with regards to those other cats I probably would have nominated them already. But nominating a category like World War II films feels like a fool's errand. At least right now. But I could be wrong. Οἶδα (talk) 03:33, 14 June 2026 (UTC)

Nominator's rationale: Unlikely/uncommon misspelling. No other redirects from this misspelling exist. It has occurred just 6 times across all of English Wikipedia, mostly on file pages and in one discussion from 2025. Google Trends displays a handful of brief spikes in searches for the term, but none since 2012 and none so great (the highest was a mere 100 searches in April 2004) as to suggest that this is a regularly occurring error. And not that it's necessarily a reason for deletion, but it could be read as referencing the offensive term coon, and I'd hate for anyone to come across this and be personally offended by it. Another is about a subject described as a "British women" who was enslaved as a girl as a result of the events in the 1857 rebellion. Another is about a person who was brought from Ethiopia to India as a slave. • Nominator's rationale There are only 15 sub-categories of Category:Slaves by nationality that are actually that and have articles. Of those 8 use the form "slaves in x" and a 9th is proposed for renaming where those who do not want to upmerge support renaming to that form. Almost all the slaves by former country categories use in. We have decided we want to categorize people by where they were slaves, and not put people from a country who were held elsewhere as slaves in these categories. In general slaves have unclear status as full holders of a claim to the word describing nationals of a country, and so it is just easier and more clear to use the "Slaves in x" format.John Pack Lambert (talk) 13:51, 12 June 2026 (UTC)

Nominator's rationale: Eponymous category newly created to hold spinoff articles about each individual yearly iteration of a minor local film festival that does not have the level of prominence or sourceability to warrant that treatment -- with the result that the spinoff articles are all up for WP:AFD, and the only things left after that will be the eponym itself and a navigational box template that will also be useless if and when the yearly articles go. Nominator's rationale: per Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2016 January 25#Category:Films about women. It is too broad a category, and even if we simplify it to movies with female protagonists, there are too many films that meet that criterion. Gray eyes (talk) 13:04, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
  • Keep, but purge articles. In principle I agree with nominator. This category is a container category for that very reason: it is meant to be only for specific subcategories of women. Marcocapelle (talk) 14:17, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
If that is the reason, it should be changed to a name like 'Category:Depictions of specific woman on film'. (a subcategory of Category:Depictions of people on film). The current category name is problematic, and there is a possibility that it will be added indiscriminately again even after removal. Gray eyes (talk) 18:08, 13 June 2026 (UTC)

Nominator's rationale: Category created solely to hold a single image. Every person who exists does not automatically get one of these the moment we have one photograph or caricature of them stored as a Wikipedia file -- there would need to be several images of him before an eponymous category was warranted, and Category:Images of Australian people is all that's necessary otherwise. Also, while the subject certainly wasn't a nobody, he also wasn't a high-level supernotable of the type where multiple images would be either likely or needed -- he was just a normal WP:NPOL-satisfying politician, not a prime minister or president with tons of spinoff content to categorize, so repurposing this as an article category wouldn't work either. Nominator's rationale: Category for a non-WP:DEFINING characteristic. Its name confused me at first, but after a couple of spotchecks it hit me: what the entries here have in common is that regardless of where they play in the world, their ethnic background is partially Vietnamese and partially something else. But that's not a defining characteristic, and would fall under WP:EGRS as this is not a characteristic that gets these people collectively analyzed as a group on this basis. Nominator's rationale: Very improperly formatted category; unclear what the criteria is (bishops of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, the bishop of the local Latin Catholic jurisdiction, or bishops from the area). Blow it up and revisit. ~ Pbritti (talk) 00:51, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
It should be clear from looking at it Bishops of Knanaya ethnic origin they can and have served in many different churches Malankara, Malabar, Jacobite, Latin... Saji Edavazhikkal (talk) 00:56, 12 June 2026 (UTC)

  • Propose Deleting Category:Florida Women's Hall of Fame Inductees
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:OCAWARD and WP:NONDEFINING
The Florida Women's Hall of Fame is an annual award celebrating women in Florida that includes having their name affixed to a plaque in the state capital. The articles I clicked on don't even mention the award including Gloria Estefan, Janet Reno, Peggy Quince, and Lilly Pulitzer. There's already a template and list of winners for any reader interested in the topic. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:44, 12 June 2026 (UTC)

  • Propose Deleting Category:Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame
  • Propose Deleting Category:Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame inductees
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:SUBJECTIVECAT and WP:OCAWARD
The Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame can refer to three separate organizations:
  • A. Original Pre-Revolution: 1939-1961 in Havana, inducted a mix of All Cubans, minor, major, Negro league players
  • B. Exile in United States: 1962-1986, 1997-1998 in Miami, focused on Major League players.
  • C. Official Revival: 2014 in Havana, focused on Cuba national baseball team players. Having trouble finding later years.
The Exile and Revival ones both recognize inductees by the Original, but they definitely don't recognize each other. While all the inducted players have great athletic skills, perceived political allegiance and emigration decisions also may be factors for admission. These competing claims by rival organizations are better handled in the article space which doesn't treat any of these awards as defining anyway. The contents of the current category are already listified here in the main article. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:44, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
Background We previously deleted this same category back in 2019 but it was recreated by a now blocked editor. - - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:44, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
