  • Merge per nom and follow-up on the discussion about the 18th-century debut novels. Note that the nomination skips the Debut works level as a target because those categories are equally poorly populated. Category:Gordon Ramsay television series

Nominator's rationale: This needs to be purged of any TV series he did not create and renamed to clarify the association and reflect the guidelines. Per WP:PERFCAT any TV series he was just the host of should not be included. See Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2026 March 17#Category:Television shows by presenter for recent precedent. --woodensuperman 14:39, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
Support: I created the category to try and fit a bunch together, as there were many sub-franchises/etc that would fall under this. But understand creator is better. Would this include television series created by his production companies? And would it include spin-off or localizations of series he has created? Just to see if further sub-categories could be helpful for some 'franchises' umbrella'ed under the Gordon Ramsay television series brand/category. HighlandFacts (talk) 15:22, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
I'd say that television series created by his production companies should have their own category so that they fit in the Category:Television series by studio tree. i.e. Category:Television series by Studio Ramsay Global etc. --woodensuperman 15:36, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
Support. This is really just a "presented by/featuring Gordon Ramsay" category. Personally, I would just delete it and start that new category because it's an entirely different scope. Either way, the only articles that list Gordon Ramsay as creator are: Culinary Genius, The F Word (American TV series), Hell's Kitchen (American TV series), Hell's Kitchen (British TV series) and Hotel Hell.   • Merge The parent is not tagged as a container category. We need to stop creating de facto container categories by diffusing so broadly we end up with too narrow sub-categories that have no use in navigation. There is no reason to have the set up the way we do so I think we should upmerge to correct poorly thought out decisions of the past.John Pack Lambert (talk) 17:20, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
    @Johnpacklambert There are any number of reasons to implement it this way. A categorization scheme that dumps railroads into "Spin-offs of North American railroads" without qualification would be overbroad; hundreds if not thousands of North American railroads would be so categorized. It's meaningless without qualifying which railroad they're downstream of. Does that mean some railroads only had one spinoff? Probably. Maybe they shouldn't be categorized in that case, but that bumps against your typically thorough Wikipedia editor. It also creates a situation where we're inconsistent (from the reader's perspective) for internal Wikipedia reasons. Mackensen (talk) 10:46, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
