I am nominating this featured article for review because there are lots of uncited statements, including entire paragraphs. At over 14,000 words, I think editors should discuss spinning out or text that can be summarised more effectively. Z1720 (talk) 01:29, 11 August 2026 (UTC)
- Comment There appears to be two unrelated FAs linked at the top of this page, a template glitch perhaps? Moonraker and Moonrise novels.
- I've just joined the astronomy project and would prefer that regular Moon article editors work on fixing it, if that doesn't happen I will give it a shot. A good place to start would be viewing the diff between the current state of the article and how it was after the previous FAR. I'm not a regular editor of this article, but I have done some minor reorganization of content in edits a few months ago. In general there is a lot of text that could be saved but fits in with their surrounding context rather poorly. For example, a bunch of the text in "impact craters" section could (possibly) be moved to "lunar geologic timescale". And also the observation section contains material that is not referenced, but also just does not fit well with neighbouring text with jarring/lack-of transitions, and could be cut. There are sentences scattered throughout that are just proseline, but could probably only be easily fixed if there were secondary sources that we could build off to summarize it (which may not exist). I will probably try to address some more of it later, although there are some changes that I am not as sure about and may seek consensus feedback on later. Sbznpoe (talk) 03:34, 17 August 2026 (UTC)
- What is the opinion on the "illumination and phases" subsection? There is some content there that is focused on the daylight conditions on the Moon (day-night cycle/seasons), which I think could be moved somewhere else, to the "surface conditions" subsection or maybe start a new subsection. The section should be more focused on observation-related content and should be renamed to just "phases". Also, there is no actual text explaining what the phases of the moon are, the explanation is left entirely to the picture. Sbznpoe (talk) 03:01, 19 August 2026 (UTC)
