Reconrabbit

Good to see more rodent nominations from you. I did a search for usable images on iNaturalist. Tangentially related I was able to find this website, eGerbil (archived) which has since been usurped by a gambling site but has an amazing animated header image. The image of the pleasant gerbil is of dubious identification since this species isn't necessarily present in Morocco at all, but it is sold as a pet in some places. Since it doesn't look like that map is getting a replacement I will give the image review a pass. Only one thing I have to note - without a map, it's unclear what "scattered northern Africa" means with reference to the pleasant gerbil. The species has a weird distribution relative to all the other gerbillines, being specific might help. -- Reconrabbit (talk) 15:28, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

• You have Sudan wikilinked next to Khartoum gerbil, when it has appeared several times previously, and was presumably wikilinked at its first appearance.

Comment - On the phylogenetic tree/cladogram, Desmodillus is listed twice but there is only one species within that genus, is this correct? Jpeeling (Talk) 14:39, 8 July 2026 (UTC)

@Jpeeling: Good catch; the first one in the cladogram was in error, it's only in Gerbillurini at the bottom. In the source that first one is Dipodillus, which is a split of Gerbillus that is not yet recognized by the IUCN and so should not be listed in the cladogram, and which I apparently misread as Desmodillus.
