These alternate character designs are not accompanied by sufficient critical commentary and thus likely violate WP:NFCC#8 (contextual significance). Even if accompanied by critical commentary, stills from animated works for identification/discussion of depicted characters (and not the depicted scene) would most certainly contain multiple non-free background elements in violation of WP:NFCC#3b (minimal extent of use) and should in any event be replaced with character renders containing a transparent background (such as File:LuzTheOwlHouse.png and File:Amity Blight.png respectively for the Luz Noceda and Amity Blight articles). The rationale is false in two respects. It claims that "The image is placed in the infobox at the top of the article" and that it is "the primary visual image associated with the work". This image is a secondary artwork which is not intended to replace the one at the top of the article.

As well, there is a complete lack of critical commentary regarding this artwork. It is not needed to illustrate any points made in the article. Binksternet (talk) 06:07, 29 October 2025 (UTC)

It is false in the sense that I used the wrong rationale, I was meaning to upload it as a secondary means of identification as an alternative cover but I used the primary cover’s rationale.

As for your second point, while I agree that it is not the "primary" means of identification for the article, it is definitely a viable alternative cover and a viable way of identifying the album. If we were to take the alternate cover away here, then why are we keeping other alternate covers up in numerous other articles? Zacnascarguy 88 fan (talk) 12:31, 29 October 2025 (UTC)
