Why are the images of the Andrea Doria sinking that are already in the article not sufficient? Based5290 :3 (talk) 05:06, 20 May 2026 (UTC)

This is a declined speedy deletion. Currently licensed as non-free. The image is an Associated Press photo from 1963. Per c:Category:Photographs distributed by Associated Press, if this image was published in 1963, then it would be public domain due to lack of proper copyright notice. Delete When the image was published it was cropped smaller than shown in this file see here only the portion that was published at the time is public domain 999REAL 💬 ⬆ 18:19, 20 May 2026 (UTC)

@999real: The Fitchburg Sentinel shows that a bit more of the image was published than the one in The Times Argus. Based5290 :3 (talk) 21:55, 20 May 2026 (UTC)

Copyright is weird. File:Doc Edgerton 1963.jpg is much higher-res than the one whose deletion was being discussed here, but because the cropping is different...
