Result: No consensus for removal of GA status. Bgsu98 (Talk) 14:44, 12 April 2026 (UTC)

This article is quite large at over 15,000 words. I think some prose can be spun out into new or existing articles, with information summarised in this article more effectively. This will help with reducing load times for those in less reliable Internet connections, and navigation (especially on mobile devices). Z1720 (talk) 18:32, 26 March 2026 (UTC)

That's at the high end of the WP:TOOBIG guideline. But the size was similar when it passed the GA , and it's not obvious that size is a reason to down-grade it now. Nothing prevents you from creating spin-offs etc without down-grading this one first. Ping to @DocFreeman24 if you wish to comment. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:14, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
  • @Gråbergs Gråa Sång and DocFreeman24: I think the size, at the time of passing its GAN, should have been addressed before this was first promoted, but we can't go back in time. GA criterion 3b states that the article "stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style)" with summary style addressing article size. I think this means that the article needs to fulfil that criterion for it to retain its GA status. Z1720 (talk) 17:00, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
Knock yourself out! No need to Monday morning quarterback something that happened 6 years ago. Trim or spin out away! DocFreeman24 (talk) 00:13, 28 March 2026 (UTC)
  • @DocFreeman24: Unfortunately, I do not have the time, the necessary knowledge of the topic, nor the will to spin out or trim this article. Z1720 (talk) 00:19, 28 March 2026 (UTC)
If you think the article is deficient, then improve it. If you think the article is no longer worthy of GA, then build consensus and demote it. Beyond that I’m really not sure what else there is to say. DocFreeman24 (talk) 00:20, 29 March 2026 (UTC)
DocFreeman24 has answered succinctly and to the point, and I agree with them. I also don't think it is appropriate to judge this article purely on word length. This is a huge topic, usually covered by full-length books; the size of this article is not out of line with the scope of the topic. Jenhawk777 (talk) 19:44, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
