Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is a group of American superhero films produced by Marvel Studios based on characters that appear in publications by Marvel Comics. The films include Captain America: Civil War (2016) with Chris Evans as Steve Rogers / Captain America, Doctor Strange (2016) with Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Stephen Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) with Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, and Karen Gillan reprising their roles, and Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) with Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, Thor: Ragnarok (2017) with Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Black Panther (2018) with Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa / Black Panther , Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) with Paul Rudd as Scott Lang / Ant-Man and Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne / Wasp, and Captain Marvel (2019) with Brie Larson as Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel. All returned for one or both of the crossover films Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Endgame became the highest-grossing film at the time. Evans and Holland appeared the most in the phase, starring or making cameo appearances in five of the films. The 11 films of the phase grossed over US$13.5 billion at the global box office. Phase Three, along with Phase One and Phase Two, constitutes "The Infinity Saga".
