Wikipedia:Meetup/Sydney/January 2008

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The fourth Sydney meetup took place on Monday 28 January, 2008. About 12 Wikipedians and guests from the Dictionary of Sydney Project met at the QVB Jet cafe. We went for drinks at ... and then for dinner at a Japanese restaurant where we had eggs, both raw and cooked, thrown at us!

  6. -- Anonymous DissidentTalk - please, can we possibly chose the cafe in advance? I'll probably catch up with everyone at the cafe, if we could possibly kind of allocate one...? Is that possible? -- Anonymous DissidentTalk 15:47, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
  7. Ianblair23 -- I attended the first two meetups but I was unable to attend the last meetup on ANZAC Day with Jimbo which was really dissappointing. So I am not going to miss this one. The 28th is the Australia Day public hoilday so we should be able to get a good number of us together. Also I note above that some pretty prominent Wikipedians will be in attendance including the infamous Witty Lama from the Wikipedia Weekly podcasts. Can't wait!

  14. Privatemusings may be the first second banned user to attend a meetup? He'll happily take a separate table, if necessary, and looks forward to a fun afternoon!! I was User:Petesmiles at last years meetup, and it'll be nice to catch up with those folk who were there too.....
No, you're not the first. I met banned user Muijz at a meetup in Amsterdam in 2005. Angela. 12:03, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
maybe the first banned user on english wikipedia? who knows....
User:Encyclopedist attended a meetup I believe, but he wasn't banned at the time. Majorly (talk) 23:12, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Apologies

  • I would love to attend but I'm out of the country between 27th January and 6th February. Maybe meet again in February? enochlau (talk) 08:44, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
  • Will be away for that part of Jan, but would love to attend the next one --Mikecraig (talk) 22:15, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Agenda

This is a social gathering, so there's no formal agenda, but you're welcome to add suggested discussion topics here

And here are some ice-breaker ideas for chit chat; feel free to add anything you've always wanted to ask a fellow wikipedian....

  • Where are we heading? Speculations and guesstimates about the wikipedia of the future
  • What's the single most positive change you'd make if you ran the wiki world?
  • Who's the best wikipedian ever?
