I've listed this article for peer review because I think it has FA potential. I'm focusing on the quality of the prose but am open to feedback on all aspects to ensure the article has a good chance at FAC. Thanks, (Guyinblack25 talk 02:44, 17 May 2026 (UTC))
- @Guyinblack25 there's been no activity here for a couple of weeks. Perhaps it makes sense to close this now? RoySmith (talk) 11:29, 12 July 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reminder. I’ll close it later today. Guyinblack25 talk 20:59, 12 July 2026 (UTC)
Comments from Noleander
- InfoBox abbreviation: "iOS" - Does the sidebar template permit you to instead write "iPhone/iPad"? Many readers may not know what platforms iOS represents.
- Grammar "The consoles versions were rated lower that the iOS releases .." probably should be "The console versions were rated lower than the iOS releases ...
- Explain: ". Infinity Gene's success impacted Taito's approach to mobile phone games. Consider changing "approach" to "strategy" Can the article explain how it impacted the approach? Example: did it cause the company to produce more phone games?
- Include consoles? "... developed and published by Taito for mobile phones." A bit misleading since the game was also released on consoles. So either (a) mention consoles there; or (b) add word "initially" or similar e.g. "...developed and published by Taito initially for mobile phones. " ... but the latter may not be easy to write in an elegant way.
- Grammar: "The player controlled small space ship (center) fires at the boss,..." is not right. Either convert to adjective with a hyphen: "The player-controlled small space ship (center) fires at the boss,..." or treat it as a verb: "The player controls a small space ship (center) which fires at the boss,..."
- Tense: present vs past for player actions during game: "The player controlled small space ship (center) fires at the boss,..." Article should use only present tense when describing what the player does while playing the game. Here "controlled" is past tense. I understand that "controlled" is related to the grammar issue above, so changing it to "player-controlled" (an adjective) is acceptable.
- Define " .. invader characters in every normal stage." Can you define a "normal stage"?
- Ambiguous ".. Ishida omitted [the characters] from the final levels of the stages to give them a different feel." The word "them" (boldface) could refer to the characters or stages or levels. Try to reword to eliminate that ambiguity.
- Sales numbers: Can the article state how many games were sold?
- Price: Can the article state what the cost was (to users)?
- Overall, the article is nearly ready for FA nomination. It is compliant with Manual of Style requirements, and with source/citing requirements. The article is rather small and focused, which is normal for video game articles. The prose is fairly good, but is not quite at the "professional" quality required for FA (see some examples above).
- That is all for now. Let me know if you want me to make another pass thru the article. Noleander (talk) 12:53, 28 June 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for the feedback. I made edits to the article to address most of your points. Regarding the other points:
- iOS in the Infobox - The MoS for video game articles uses generalized platforms and operating systems (MOS:VGPLATFORMS). I believe the thinking is that some games are released on so many platforms, differentiating every variation causes excessive bloat. The details of the devices for iOS are available in the wikilink for those looking for more information.
- Normal stages - I changed the wording to "most every stage". Typically normal stage means stages/levels in the game's main mode and excludes boss levels, bonus stages, etc. They often comprise the bulk of the game. However, I haven't played every level of this game, so I'm not sure what was actually implemented.
- Sales numbers - unfortunately, we are at the whim of what information the publisher is willing to release. The only related information I came across was the two weeks it appeared on the US App Store's list of top paid apps. Apple highlighted games that were downloaded the most (in this case, purchased since it was a paid app).
- Price - The MoS for video games prohibits pricing information unless it is notable (MOS:VGSCOPE, which is based on WP:NOTCATALOG). Prices typically become notable if they are so high or so low from the common practice that gaming press report on the deviation.
- Thanks again for reviewing the article. If the changes I made do not address your comments or if you notice additional issues, please let me know. (Guyinblack25 talk 20:51, 28 June 2026 (UTC))
- Alright, the changes look good. It seems ready for an FA nomination, but if you want more assurance, you can try to get a second PR reviewer, or post the article at Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Requests for a volunteer to go over the prose. Good luck! Noleander (talk) 21:24, 28 June 2026 (UTC)
