• The uploader claims to be the author of this image. I find this dubious; it looks to be the official logo for the 2013 IIFA awards ceremony. • Keep unless I misunderstand something. If I understand rightly, the photo is owned by the copyright holder for the sculpture, and he's given Wikipedia-acceptable permission for the photo via OTRS. As such, he's the only copyright holder for the image, and a proper release for the photo is all we need. The alternative to that is a claim that he's basically violated his own copyright! There's absolutely no reason to release the sculpture under a free license; all we need for a photo of a copyrighted subject is the photo's permission and the permission to use the image of the sculpture under the same permission. Only one person has copyright interests in this image, and unless I misunderstand something, he's permitted all uses of this image by anyone who follows GFDL. Nyttend (talk) 02:13, 27 July 2013 (UTC)

There's multiple copyrights involved with this picture. First is of course for the photo itself, then one for the sculpture, and one each for each of the photos displayed of MLK. Caffeyw (talk) 14:26, 25 August 2013 (UTC)

Can you point to somewhere in policy that indicates that this is non-free because of a trademark? WP:LOGOS appears to mainly deal with when the image is a logo, not when it contains one, but it seems to indicate you can just slap on the {{trademark}} template in a case like this and move on, IRWolfie- (talk) 09:47, 21 August 2013 (UTC)

Trademarks don't make anything non-free by default. See Commons:COM:NCR for the Commons explanation of this. The question is whether the logo is copyrightable (see Commons:COM:TOO) and/or de minimis. The nominator's deletion rationale is faulty. --Stefan2 (talk) 12:31, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
