Temporary account IP viewer
- Have an account which is at least 6 months old and which has made at least 300 edits
- Agree to use the IP addresses in accordance with the Foundation's guidelines, solely for the investigation or prevention of vandalism, abuse, or other violations of Wikimedia Foundation or community policies, and understand the risks and responsibilities associated with this privilege
The above requirements are from the Wikimedia Foundation, and are not subject to admin discretion. Additionally, admins must be satisfied that the requesting user has a demonstrated need for access (for example, work at new page patrol, counter-vandalism, or sockpuppet investigations), and are permitted to decline applicants who meet these criteria but are otherwise unsuitable for access to this tool.
Once you have been granted the permission, you must check the box Preferences → User profile →

I deal with block evaders and abusive editors on an often enough basis that I believe I would find this permission useful in some scenarios. For example, I suspect there is block evasion from a TA on the article Frankie & Johnny (1991 film). Another example of where I might use the access is on my user talk page, where a certain LTA keeps occassionally attacking it and several others' talk pages, and the info would be useful in renewing IP rangeblocks that had lapsed. Prior to making this request, I have read through the WMF's TAIV policy and understood what I can, and can't do with the information. — AP 499D25 (talk) 09:08, 19 March 2026 (UTC)

I've been patrolling recent changes for a while now and would like access to TAIV rights. When I encounter an instance of clear vandalism, I usually check the editor's other contributions for other inappropriate edits. It is quite frustrating to see 2-5 or 6-10 other TAs on a shared IP address without being able to see the edits they made. Yerlo (talk) 21:27, 21 March 2026 (UTC)
