  Perhaps I emphasised the en dash too much; to expand on my rationale, I find the disambiguation "unlikely" due to how long it is, when the standard is one or maybe two words. Long disambiguations like this typically only include the birth year (e.g. Aleksa Matić (footballer, born 1996) and Aleksa Matić (footballer, born 2002)) and sometimes even the birth month if necessary, and even then they don't typically include the full lifespan + nationality.

  In short, I find it unlikely that any readers are actively typing this much additonal text into the search bar of an already hyper-famous celebrity whose name will pop up in third place after simply writing "Sel". 𝔅𝔦𝔰-𝔖𝔢𝔯𝔧𝔢𝔱𝔞? 17:58, 23 April 2026 (UTC)

this one's only a little weird, and thus weak as a result, but lasers aren't the only means of light amplification. while this could just as easily be someone forgetting the rest of the acronym, results imply this is more likely to refer to any method of amplifying light in any context, so this could be a slightly surprising target.

i would suggest retargeting to light, but that one doesn't actually mention amplification for whatever reason, and i'm not entirely sure if mentions of light amplification in articles (which there are a lot of, fortunately) would justify a dab (or would it be a set index?), so what could be done here? consarn _{(talck) (contirbuton s)} 20:14, 22 April 2026 (UTC)

• Keep; multiple reliable sources call him a "rapper", accurate or not, such as the BBC, Al Jazeera and Fox News; and to be completely honest as someone not into American rap, hip-hop, R&B, etc., this nomination was how I found out that D4vd was not just another B-or-C-tier-famous rapper, and I could easily imagine myself using this redirect as I still cannot remember how to spell his stage name. The former's article doesn't suggest they were known mononymously at all, the latter's bolds "Dave" as one of three alternative names. Neither strike me as a suitable target for this redirect. Googling "David" "rapper" -Wikipedia brings up some reliable sources describing "D4vd" as a rapper, e.g. Al Jazeera, Dawn, The News Pakistan and Daily Mirror, although most sources describe him as a singer.   So we'd be further clogging up the more established and successful actual rapper's hatnote-fest with an incorrect statement labelling a pop/rock singer as a rapper because a few Asian sources assume that he's a rapper because he's Black while hastily reporting? "Assume" is giving the benefit of the doubt here, of course (which one should never do for the Mirror). I just think it creates mores problems that it solves.   If even reliable sources can make false/"racist" assumptions about David's music style, then especially so can the readers of Wikipedia. Redirects need not be 100% or even 1% correct (e.g. Barack Obama is a Muslim, all the redirects tagged with R from incorrect disambiguation), which this redirect is a clear example of the latter, as a incorrect disambiguation due to [...] a previous editorial misconception.   I now see your point and I likewise appreciate you for re-wording it in a way I understand; I'd argue that WP:SMALLDETAILS (i.e. David, full name, vs. Dave, diminutive) would allow for David (rapper) to continue existing at its current target. The heart of our disagreement I think comes from what we think is more likely; people confusing a very similar name or people confusing a "similar" (i.e. rap being "similar" to R&B) genre of music/musician. • Comment from creator: I am not a music expert. His bio says that his music falls under the genres of Lo-fi pop · indie rock · R&B. If those genres are too far removed from rap, then feel free to delete. Otherwise, keep. My sense is that readers are more likely to be searching for pre-1979 conflicts, including ancient topics, but I'm not confident this is the case and even if so, that they are overwhelmingly more likely to be looking for these wars than all other topics combined. Sprenger's asparagus redirects to Asparagus aethiopicus, and "Sprenger's asparagus" and "Sprenger's asparagus fern" both being names in common use for different species seems very unlikely. Especially so, since these species are closely related and have a history of being confused for each other. Most likely "Sprenger's asparagus fern" arose from a fusion of "Sprenger's asparagus" with "asparagus fern", which has an overlapping meaning. "Asparagus fern" is nonspecific, and in addition to A. densiflorus and A. aethiopicus, can refer to Asparagus setaceus or Asparagus virgatus. • "Sprenger's" in any vernacular ("common") names is just a result of scientists translating Asparagus sprengeri to invent a vernacular name. According to scientific sources such as Plants of the World Online, A. sprengeri is a synonym (taxonomy) of A. densiflorus. But the real question is which species (A. densiflorus or A. aethiopicus) is the commonly grown houseplant that has been referred to as A. sprengeri. I will look into that further. • Retarget Sprenger's asparagus to Asparagus densiflorus. What a mess. It looks like Kew has reversed their position synonymizing A. sprengeri with A. aethiopicus at some point since 2011, and now treats A. sprengeri as a synonym of A. densiflorus. (Kew is the WCSP reference in the A. aethiopicus article, and the POWO reference in the A. densiflorus article).
  The commonly cultivated species seems to be A. densiflorus, but A. aethiopicus is apparently naturalized/invasive in the southeastern United States. Plantdrew (talk) 17:58, 27 April 2026 (UTC)
