Confusing redirect- the term "pre-recorded music" is used in common English and on Wikipedia to refer to recorded music that is sold or streamed. 42-BRT (talk) 20:49, 13 January 2026 (UTC)

  • Retarget to be the same as recorded music, i.e. redirect to Sound recording and reproduction. The nominator is correct. I created this while disambiguating Canned music, possibly also to resolve a redlink, but it was clearly not my best edit. I had found a section with those words in the heading and assumed that it was an explanation of the topic, but it is not – that section is just another application of the general topic of "recorded music". – Fayenatic London 13:06, 14 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Note: I have changed two incoming links to use recorded music instead. After closing, I suggest adding prerecorded music likewise. – Fayenatic London 13:15, 14 January 2026 (UTC)

Term is commonly associated with the Toyota pickup truck; retarget to Toyota Tacoma? 𝚈𝚘𝚟𝚝 (𝚝𝚊𝚕𝚔𝚟𝚝) 19:31, 13 January 2026 (UTC)

  • Keep - No evidence that the truck model is the most common use of the name, especially outside North America. The city has the most uses in search results (125 million vs. 95 million). SounderBruce 19:45, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Keep - I'm dumbfounded, lol. It's a truck versus a city of over a quarter million people. What's next, forester? Red Slash 20:13, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
  • In my opinion, there is great enough potential for confusion that a disambiguation page would be helpful. 42-BRT (talk) 20:50, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Move Tacoma (disambiguation) to Tacoma. 2025 page views show that the truck received 1,384 views per day and the city received 823 views per day. The truck received more page views every day in 2025 except for a huge spike on Christmas. That would lend credence to the truck being the primary topic, but the delta isn't great enough that I am convinced there is one. -- Tavix (talk) 20:53, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Move as suggested by Tavix. 2023 and 2024 page views show a similar pattern to 2025, with 2023 having a wider delta between the two. But I'm not convinced there is enough of a difference to consider one primary over the other. - Presidentman talk · contribs (Talkback) 20:58, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Comment - As pointed out by others, Toyota Tacoma appears to get ~150% of the pageviews of the city over the last 5 years. Doesn't seem to be a primary topic here. No opinion about whether the disambiguation page should be called Tacoma (disambiguation) or just Tacoma. Suriname0 (talk) 21:13, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
If there is no primary topic then the DAB page should be at the base name per WP:MALPLACED, there is no reason for a base title to redirect to a qualified DAB page if there is no primary topic. Crouch, Swale (talk) 21:45, 14 January 2026 (UTC)

This may very well be his middle name, but per Talk:Cary_and_Michael_Huang#Kaiming/Yiming, no one has ever added a WP:BLP-good source for it, so having this redirect goes a bit against WP:DOB. Same goes for Michael Yiming Huang. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 05:50, 6 January 2026 (UTC)

  • Delete both per nom and prior Talk page discussion failing to show adequate sourcing to overcome the BLP concerns. That's reason enough to delete. But additionally, the lack of reliable sourcing highlights a lack of real-world 'usefulness' for these redirects. Only superfans are likely to encounter these purported middle names and such users are unlikely to have trouble locating the article. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 19:43, 6 January 2026 (UTC)

  • Keep. The Mercury News published the full names of the Campolindo High School Class of 2015 graduates, which gives their names as "Cary Kaiming Huang" and "Michael Yiming Huang". -- Tavix (talk) 19:26, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
That's interesting. Source checks out, and it seems unlikely they would be different people with the same names, it's not exactly John and Jane Smith, even though the WP-article doesn't mention this school atm.
I would argue that this source fails WP:BLPPRIVACY per "widely published". Also, it's a bit like a WP:BLPPRIMARY source, a routine list released/announced by the school. Too "gotcha!" for this kind of data if you get my meaning. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 12:20, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
I went ahead and added the school to the article. If we're discussing their early life and education, that's important to include. This is clearly them, it'd already been established that they're from Moraga, California and it's the only public high school there. A 2015 high school graduation lines up with someone born in 1997. The Mercury News is a secondary publication to the school (the author is credited as the newspaper's publisher, not the school). -- Tavix (talk) 15:57, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
Good find. I'm somewhat conflicted. I agree that The Mercury News is a generally reliable source and is secondary to the school but for graduation announcements I imagine they just reprint the information from the school without any fact checking or reporting. This single source doesn't meet the WP:BLPPRIVACY requirement of widely published by reliable sources for inclusion in the article. I'm not sure whether it's enough to overcome the BLP concerns for appropriateness of these redirects. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 17:21, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
The goalposts are moving, this isn't just a verification issue then? My stance is that if for whatever reason either of them wanted their middle names private, they wouldn't have had them published for graduation purposes. The same is true for college graduation: Stanford published "Cary Kaiming Huang". -- Tavix (talk) 17:50, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
My goalpost has been WP:DOB since the start of this thread and before. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:02, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
No one has ever added a WP:BLP-good source for it is a verification concern. That has been satisfied. -- Tavix (talk) 18:05, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
And like I said, IMO this 2015 The Mercury News doesn't quite reach the BLP part DOB. That's my view, reasonable people may disagree. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:25, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
This was my understanding, that the specific BLP concern is WP:DOB (aka WP:BLPPRIVACY). —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 02:44, 10 January 2026 (UTC)

  • Refine to Tent#Groundsheet where I have just added an anchor. Per the nom, the term is primarily associated with tents. The target contains a detailed description of the subject at #Groundsheet and the term is used elsewhere throughout the article. WP:RETURNTORED applies when the target article contains virtually no information on the subject, which is not the case here. A search for groundsheet shows it usage in a number of articles, often in association with tents, sleeping bags, etc. These redirects are doing exactly what they should (and could be improved by targeting to the anchor): sending readers to the only detailed coverage we have of the subject in its most prominent context. Editors are free to expand the redirect into an article. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 19:10, 13 January 2026 (UTC)

Points to 2025 Russia–United States summit, but this term is not actually used to describe the summit - somebody claimed it was referred to that in the article (see Special:Diff/1305237274, but I'm pretty confident that they meant to say "Alaska 2025 Summit", to match the lead of sister articles like 2018 Russia–United States summit. The phrase "ALASKA 2025" was used a few times in connection with the event, but I think that if anybody is searching the lowercase version, they're more likely going to be looking for 2025 in Alaska or any of the several events listed on that page. So retarget there. GreenLipstickLesbian💌🧸 09:42, 22 December 2025 (UTC)

  • Keep. The article notes "ALASKA 2025" being used in the event's branding, as reported in the Anchorage Daily News; the phrase has also been used in commentary on the event . While the string "Alaska 2025" can be used as part of references to other things (e.g. "the Alaska 2025 budget"), as a standalone phrase it doesn't seem to refer to anything else, and we generally assume that if people are searching a phrase it's for its standalone meaning, not what it could mean in the middle of a larger phrase. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|🤷) 10:41, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
The Dras.in source is, um... well, it's giving AI slop. Do we accept those at RfD as evidence or a term being used? The Le Monde opinion piece is naturally better, but the fact that they gloss their "Place name + date" terms is interesting (I, as always though it's of dubious relevance to this RfD, lodge a protest that the other places get referred to by their city name while we're generically "Alaska".) GreenLipstickLesbian💌🧸 11:18, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
Any usage in any source is at least somewhat relevant for RfD's purposes, even sources we affirmatively hold to be unreliable like random people's tweets. (Speaking of which...) In the Le Monde piece I see the editors inserting a clarification for a usage they considered to go against their style guide. That's a bit clearer in the original French, which lacks the awkward "a reference to" and also has bracketed text to explain who Vladimir Putin is. The bar isn't very high here. Redirects are cheap, the term is mentioned in the article, and if there's nothing else this would plausibly refer to then there's no reason not to redirect it. I don't buy that anyone would ever search this looking for 2025 in Alaska. I see that United States 2025 does exist along similar lines (created after an earlier deletion pointing to a different target), but I'm tempted to RfD that as implausible. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|🤷) 11:30, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
  • Keep and add {{Redirect}} hatnote pointing to 2025 in Alaska. No prejudice to reassessing if we find that usage does not persist with this specific referent. I found another source that calls the summit Alaska 2025, at least in the headline, and this from PBS that comments repeatedly on the Alaska 2025 sign and 'branding' but does not otherwise use this as the name for the summit. I agree with Tamzin that usage in wiki-unreliable sources are valid considerations for assessing the appropriateness of redirects. Blogs, forums, social media posts, POV publications, etc. can show usage 'in the wild' that indicates plausible search terms. Usage by a handful of wiki-reliable sources bolsters the claim for plausibility. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 19:53, 22 December 2025 (UTC)

While there have been few hits in the few days preceding the nomination the evidence is not clear whether that interest has ended or not so keeping is the only thing we can do here that isn't potentially harmful to readers. 5/day is minimal, especially compared to amounts like 50/day. Steel1943 (talk) 20:14, 13 January 2026 (UTC)

  • Weak delete. If it wasn't for that spike of 6 hits on 20 December this nomination would be unequivocally correct. That spike does exist, but the page views for the whole period since 1 January 2025 suggest it is an outlier so deletion is probably not harmful here but waiting a bit longer to make sure of that would be far better than adding to a flood of RfD nominations. Previous RfDs for this redirect and similar redirects:

Delete per WP:UFILM. Target released over 2 years ago, minimal page views. Steel1943 (talk) 02:45, 13 January 2026 (UTC)

  • Delete per nom. --Gonnym (talk) 14:59, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Weak delete. This is another example of a nomination that should not have been made as soon as it was, but on balance is probably not harmful beyond the completely unnecessary flooding of RfD with borderline (and incorrect) nominations. The evidence of page views over the last few months indicates declining utility but not no utility. UFILM calls for deletion when utility has ended not before. Thryduulf (talk) 18:48, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
A release date of "over 2 years ago" is well beyond WP:UFILM's minimum requirement of 30 days. Otherwise, this comment seems akin to playing a game of chance to nominate the redirect at the right time when page views are different ... it's like a stock market. We shouldn't be playing these games with redirects ... and really should be sticking by a strict timeline cap (which goes against part of the current wording of WP:UFILM, but yeah...) Steel1943 (talk) 20:13, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
I think you need to re-read what UFILM acutally says, it has three conditions that must be met but you are exclusively focused on only one of them. It's not about nominating when page views are different, it's about nominating when redirect is no longer useful. Thryduulf (talk) 15:33, 14 January 2026 (UTC)
Pageviews ≠ useful in all cases. Steel1943 (talk) 19:15, 15 January 2026 (UTC)
When people use a redirect to find the content they are looking for it is, by definition, useful. Unless you have evidence that the majority of people using a redirect are not finding what they are looking for (which might be to find out when or whether it has been released) then page views do equal useful. Why people are searching for it is irrelevant and largely unknowable (a link from somewhere external is a plausible explanation), what matters is that people are searching for it and arriving at the content they are most likely looking for. This means the criteria laid out at WP:UFILM are not met, and we would do a disserve to our readers by making it harder to find what they want to read. We gain absolutely nothing by deleting this. • These redirects absolutely should not have been bundled given that whether they actually have minimal page views seems to bear a whole lot more relationship to luck than to research. • Delete. My comment at #Never Let Go (upcoming film) is also relevant here. @Steel1943: I've now spent about three hours reviewing your flood of RfD nominations from yesterady and today and I've not gone through all of them. This comment is here because this is where I've run out of time and nearly reached the end of my ability to put up with the sloppiness of your nominations. There is absolutely no need for you to have nominated so many in such a short term, especially as it doesn't appear that you are actually doing the research to verify that these are getting minimal page views, please take more care and please slow down so you don't cause harm to the project than you've already done. Thryduulf (talk) 19:29, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
Yep, it's comments like these which resulted in WP:TRAINWRECKs which is why I have to do it this way. If there wasn't a precedence of prejudice against bulk nominations regarding WP:UFILM, throwing 60+ individual nominations on one day may never have happened. Maybe it's time to discuss the wording at WP:UFILM again. Steel1943 (talk) 19:35, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
Regardless of what UFILM does or doesn't say there is never a need to throw 60+ nominations at RfD in a day, bundled or otherwise. Spread them over a few weeks or a month, nominating only those that actually have minimal page views. Thryduulf (talk) 20:08, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
I'm a volunteer, I saw the issue today, I had the time, so I took time to take care of it. Maybe I wouldn't have had time another day; the issue exists until it's discussed. Wouldn't have been such a mess if I could have bundled these without obvious precedence of WP:TRAINWRECKs. Thoughts like "you caused the issue you are complaining about" and "darned if you do darned if you don't" come to mind here. Steel1943 (talk) 20:17, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
There wouldn't be an issue if people constrained themselves to only nominating redirects whose usefullness had actually demonstrably passed, rather than redirects that they think ought to no longer be useful. Also, none of these redirects need deleting - there is no issue that needs fixing today that can't wait until next week or next month - when in many cases the reason for the objections to the RfD nomination will no longer exist. Someone objecting to the deletion of a redirect that should not have been nominated for deletion is never the cause of a trainwreck, nor something that should be discouraged - particularly when the nomination rationale is objectively at odds with the very guideline it cites as a reason. Thryduulf (talk) 22:48, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
Oh look, you two are sparring again. I was wondering why these nominations weren't bundled together and thought I had missed a discussion as I'm less active these days, but I finally found the answer after scrolling all the way down here. Thryduulf, still at it, I see... I must say, I admire your tenacity. It's evident that we may never come to an agreement on how "minimal" is minimal enough, but I think you can see that the community generally agrees with Steel1943's definition and not your extremely high standard. InfiniteNexus (talk) 06:16, 14 January 2026 (UTC)
I think you can see that the community generally agrees with Steel1943's definition and not your extremely high standard. I don't see that at all, what I see is incorrect nominations that don't even meet the requirements laid out in the guideline cited as justification for deletion and many commenters assuming the nomination is correct. Thryduulf (talk) 15:44, 14 January 2026 (UTC)
What I see is an attempt at "minority rules" to an almost WP:POINTy level, which isn't compatible with a site that is based on consensus. I attempted to accommodate by honoring the fact that bundled discussions become WP:TRAINWRECKs, thus I didn't bundle them. I even attempted to avoid nominating redirects I found with like 4 pageview/day over the past 30 days. But the pushback still happens because what people see is what actually happens, not what doesn't happen. Steel1943 (talk) 22:46, 14 January 2026 (UTC)
To be clear I'm not at all complaining about there being individual discussions - that is absolutely the correct course of action. What I do have objection to is (a) posting this many redirects (whether bundled or separate) in such a short space of time, and (b) nominating redirects for deletion with rationales that are very obviously incorrect. Together the effect of these two issues multiplies. Thryduulf (talk) 15:24, 15 January 2026 (UTC)
If I may: Perhaps consider the idea of:
-Bundling a small number of redirects in each discussion (i.e. 5) to cut down on the slightly-WP:POINTy number of discussions while avoiding TRAINWRECK issues
    and/or
-Noting down somewhere a list of redirects you've caught, that way, even though you're only listing a portion of the redirects you catch at once, you don't forget the redirects you haven't caught. Srsly, we're all volunteers here lol 𝔏𝔲𝔫𝔞𝔪𝔞𝔫𝔫🌙🌙🌙 𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔐𝔬𝔬𝔬𝔬𝔬𝔫𝔦𝔢𝔰𝔱 (talk) 20:45, 15 January 2026 (UTC)

  • Comment this is a puzzling page view graph. There was a period of several months with no views then a period of renewed interest between October 2024 and April 2025, then again nothing until July 205 when there was another period of views lasting until November, since when there has been nothing. These peaks don't correspond with anything mentioned in the article, nor with anything in the article about the other film list on the Close Your Eyes dab. This not clear evidence for keeping, but equally it is not clear evidence for deleting so I can't endorse the nomination but equally I can't oppose it either. • Delete. If this had traffic and/or was correctly capitalised I'd argue for retargetting but with zero views since November there is not the evidence to support that. Thryduulf (talk) 15:30, 19 January 2026 (UTC)

List of female secretaries of state in the United States

The result of the discussion was Move List of female state secretaries of state in the United States to List of female secretaries of state in the United States, and add a new section "List of female United States secretaries of state" – Madeleine Albright, Condoleezza Rice, Hillary Clinton, Lisa D. Kenna. It's been 10 days since the procedural relist without further comment. I see a consensus for my suggestion, so this seems to just be waiting for someone willing and able to expeditiously do the work. wbm1058 (talk) 17:45, 22 January 2026 (UTC)

47 states have a secretary of state and in few of the is that functionally equivalent to Lt. Gov. Casablanca 🪨(T) 02:39, 5 January 2026 (UTC)

  • Keep There's a List of female secretaries of state in the United States at the target, so it obviously meets the guidelines. Improvements can be made without discussion here, such as adding the section to the redirect or splitting the section from the target to the redirect title making it a separate list. -- JHunterJ (talk) 15:36, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
trout Self-trout I am aghast I completely missed this. I'd be ok withdrawing if Tavix is ok with it because this was a horrible nomination rational from me. Apologies all. Casablanca 🪨(T) 17:15, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
I'd like for someone to weigh in on the state vs federal secretaries of state concern at least. It could be a case where a hatnote or disambiguation page is created (to List of United States secretaries of state) if both are valid. -- Tavix (talk) 18:08, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
The target only lists female Secretaries of State for states where there is no Lieutenant Governor and the SOS is the equivalent. Those in other states are not listed. Presidentman talk · contribs (Talkback) 22:44, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
  • My concern is different from the nominator's. I was expecting a list of Madeleine Albright, Condoleezza Rice and Hillary Clinton. Does this redirect specify state Secretaries of State rather than federal Secretaries of State? I guess 'in' the United States vs. 'of' the United States is the distinction but I'm not confident enough on that to formally !vote. -- Tavix (talk) 15:49, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
  • List of female state secretaries of state in the United States is the complete list, and that page is not a redirect. Disambiguate between that and List of United States secretaries of state. – wbm1058 (talk) 05:15, 6 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Disambiguate as suggested by wbm1058. - Presidentman talk · contribs (Talkback) 17:43, 6 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Retarget to List of female state secretaries of state in the United States. I understand the ambiguity of course, but we don't have an actual list of female United States secretaries of state, notwithstanding the female entries at List of United States secretaries of state. I suggest a hatnote along the lines of For women who have served as United States Secretary of State, see List of United States secretaries of state. --BDD (talk) 18:18, 6 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Retarget to List of female state secretaries of state in the United States. Either add a hatnote as suggested above or, perhaps better, add a section for the federal secretaries of state. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 22:05, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
That works for me. After the federal section is added, then that page can be moved over the top of this redirect. – wbm1058 (talk) 04:19, 10 January 2026 (UTC)
I'm happy with this solution as well. Presidentman talk · contribs (Talkback) 15:47, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
With respect, I would not support adding such a section unless the article is also moved. Albright, Rice, and Clinton were never state secretaries of state. Unless the article is moved and the scope widened, federal secretaries of state are a related topic, not a subtopic. --BDD (talk) 16:21, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
Agreed. A hatnote is the way to go. Presidentman talk · contribs (Talkback) 22:27, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
I also like adding the federal secretaries of state to the article and moving that page over this redirect. -- Tavix (talk) 17:51, 12 January 2026 (UTC)

Editor who created this stated it is a sublabel, but it is not mentioned at the target (and from WikiBlame seems to have never been there). Casablanca 🪨(T) 01:50, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
