Hindu theology

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was article created. Per the original close: "I wrote an article for this subject and round-robin moved it over the redirect. Athanelar (talk) 03:24, 7 March 2026 (UTC)" – (non-admin closure) Steel1943 (talk) 01:49, 9 March 2026 (UTC)

Given that the redirect target Astika and nastika is a page discussing two specific terms and their usage in multiple religions, I do not think 'Hindu theology' is a sensible redirect. Athanelar (talk) 19:28, 3 March 2026 (UTC)

I just found Hindu philosophy which I think would make a sensible retarget. Athanelar (talk) 19:32, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
Retarget to Hindu philosophy per nom. NerdyEpiscopalian (talk) 20:02, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
Updating my vote to retarget Hinduism#Beliefs. Agree with Presidentman that's a better target. NerdyEpiscopalian (talk) 14:19, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Retarget to Hinduism#Beliefs I, personally, would be surprised to land at a page about "philosophy" if I was looking for "theology." This section in the main article seems to be the best discussion of theological beliefs that we have. Also not opposed to deletion to promote article creation. - Presidentman talk · contribs (Talkback) 15:32, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
Also not opposed to deletion to promote article creation I have put the creation of a "Hindu theology" article on my to-do list, but it's a pretty extensive project that certainly won't be completed in the immediate future so I think a retarget is the more sensible immediate solution. Athanelar (talk) 15:51, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
Understandable, and I agree regarding retargeting as an immediate solution. Presidentman talk · contribs (Talkback) 19:48, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Retarget to Hinduism#Beliefs - current target is misleading and regarding Hindu Philosophy is too broad. Hinduism#Beliefs better aligns with what reader might be looking for theology. Asteramellus (talk) 23:18, 4 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Retarget to Hinduism#Beliefs per above though I don't mind a hatnote to Hindu philosophy --Lenticel (talk) 01:17, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
Commment: I got my draft for this article done faster than I expected, so I've posted a request at WP:RM to replace the redirect with my article. Athanelar (talk) 03:08, 7 March 2026 (UTC)

Delete unnecessary, obstructive possessive redirect. This has all the usual problems of possessive redirects and then some. Per MOS:POSLINK, such links cannot be used in article space. I have removed the sole use in articles in accordance with POSLINK and other MOS guidelines (Special:Diff/1341532214). "Boston's" is not a natural way to search for Boston. The possessive is ambiguous for Boston Pizza—aka Boston's Pizza or Boston's The Gourmet Pizza Restaurant and Sports Bar—and probably other companies or institutions that begin with the name "Boston" since it is common for folks to treat these as possessives in speech and informal writing (à la Aldi's and Kroger's). This redirect at least somewhat obstructs search results for article titles and redirects the actually begin with "Boston's", including Boston's Pizza, Boston's CW, Boston's Finest, Boston's sign, Boston's big dig, and others. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 19:11, 3 March 2026 (UTC)

Likely a neologism coined by the creator. Completely unattested on Google Books and Internet Archive (except for scannos). Created on the same date that this Urban Dictionary entry was created. Delete per WP:R#DELETE, criterion 8. ArcticSeeress (talk) 16:54, 3 March 2026 (UTC)

  • Delete. I agree with the nom's assessment that this appears to be a novel and obscure coinage, thus R#DELETE #8 applies. Additionally, Urban Dictionary doesn't even define this as synonymous with delirium but instead as a related concept. Redirects from slang/informal usage are permissible when the term is widespread, unambiguous, and is a direct synonym or otherwise requires no explanation. Wiki-unreliable sources can sometimes provide support for such redirects, but none of these considerations are met in the case of this redirect. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 20:29, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
Google's AI overview provides this explanation for the term:
"Based on the available search information, "Servangio" is a Wikipedia entry that functions as a redirect, likely associated with language-specific naming conventions, though it does not point to a widely recognized, specific topic in this search result.
    Key Points
    • Definition: Servangio is a Wikipedia redirect title.
    • Purpose: It is used to aid in searches and adhere to naming conventions for titles in other languages.
No further information regarding the definition or context of "Servangio" was provided in the search result."
I'm not suggesting Google's AI search overview is a reliable source—it certainly is not definitive—but this is consistent with my findings. Besides the redirect itself, Urban Dictionary, and Urban Thesaurus, all other results on the first page are in Italian. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 20:35, 3 March 2026 (UTC)

Not mentioned at the target or even anywhere else. This phrase doesn't appear to have anything to do with Dig Dug. 1isall (talk | contribs) 14:19, 3 March 2026 (UTC)

  • Delete per 1isall. According to this, this is the title of a Spongebob game with gameplay similar to that of the target. A mention probably should not be added to the target, as it would most likely fail MOS:POPCULT. Readers searching for this term who don't already know about the game will be surprised to be led here. Not a likely search term, does not refer to any specific film. Any future Sonic films that are announced without titles will surely get them in the future so this redirect is pointless, unless by chance a film does actually release under the title Untitled Sonic the Hedgehog film, which needless to say is exceedingly unlikely. silviaASH (inquire within) 11:30, 3 March 2026 (UTC)

Linked to sections that were deleted in this edit and subsequent edits which saw the article being rewritten, renamed and largely repurposed. The new articles explicitly focuses on modern Serbia as a country, whereas these redirects are in fact related to the Serb diaspora, which is made of Serb people in the ethnic sense, many of which do not come from Serbia proper. There is no discussion of Serb or Serbian populations in the articles for any of these countries nor in the 'Demographics of Country' articles. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 22:32, 4 March 2026 (UTC)

The result of the discussion was retarget to Wikipedia:Deletion process#Early closure. I think this is unambiguously superior to Wikipedia:Deletion process#Deletion discussions needing action before their end date. Notifying Andrewa that the retarget has been performed. Sympathetic to Left guide's argument, but it gained no traction. (non-admin closure) J947edits 22:19, 24 March 2026 (UTC)

This should definitely be retargeted though I'm not quite sure where. It seems a safe assumption that anyone searching this is looking for a policy page, not a rather obscure user essay. — An anonymous username, not my real name 01:18, 12 February 2026 (UTC)

  • Support this retarget proposal. The current redirect, and the user page (it's hardly an essay) to which it links, were both created to fill a gap in our documentation that no longer exists. This is documented at User talk:Andrewa/speedy close#Why this page. Once they were helpful, but they are now counterproductive. Good catch. So assuming this retargeting goes ahead I'll then see to the deletion of my user page. Andrewa (talk) 22:25, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
Retarget as per Tavix et al; my first instinct was to retarget to WP:SPEEDY's target but Tavix and ApexParagon make a good point re: the potential XY with WP:SK. 𝔏𝔲𝔫𝔞𝔪𝔞𝔫𝔫🌙🌙🌙 𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔐𝔬𝔬𝔬𝔬𝔬𝔫𝔦𝔢𝔰𝔱 (talk) 21:08, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
  • Disambiguate, add mention at WP:WHENCLOSE and retarget, or delete (in that order, with the deletion process retarget as my fourth choice): Speedy closes are frequently used in a wide range of discussions around the project like DRV, RM, GAN that I think it's too ambiguous to have a primary topic. I suspect that there may be a systemic bias towards favoring the XfD process in this discussion given that it's being hosted at a deletion discussion venue, and am weary of forming a local consensus here. A disambiguation page can include WP:RMEC, WP:DRV#Speedy closes, and WP:GAFAIL. In GA-land, speedy closes are called "quick fails" but essentially the same concept. J. P. Morgan Bank

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was No consensus * Pppery * it has begun... 20:02, 14 March 2026 (UTC)

I'd like to propose retargeting to J.P. Morgan & Co. As far as I can tell, the entity this most likely refers to is J.P. Morgan Private Bank. Clarinetguy097 (talk) 01:31, 15 February 2026 (UTC)

  • Keep J.P.Morgan & Co is predecessor before the merger - On JPMorgan Chase, it says - "JPMorgan Chase was created in 2000 by the merger of New York City banks J.P. Morgan & Co. and Chase Manhattan Company." So, searching for J P Morgan Bank would most likely refer to current entity "JPMorgan Chase" - not the pre-merger firm. Asteramellus (talk) 14:16, 15 February 2026 (UTC)
J.P. Morgan still exists as a subsidiary and operates a bank, though. Clarinetguy097 (talk) 21:07, 15 February 2026 (UTC)
  • Retarget to Chase Bank. This article talks about a bank, while JPMorgan Chase refers to a banking institution and J.P. Morgan & Co. is a financial institution. See also this related discussion for more information. Mathguy2718 (talk) 18:56, 16 February 2026 (UTC)
  • Keep. There is certainly ambiguity here. If it's anything like "JP Morgan", readers or editors may use this to refer to whichever "JP Morgan" bank was the parent company during whatever time period they are thinking about. Unlike the other redirect, this link is not used in articles. We could sent people to a dab page, but the article JPMorgan Chase is one of the plausible meanings and summarizes the relationship between the others right there in the lead. The current target serves as a broad-concept article that defines the major players, with links to articles with more details, and the lead serves almost as a beefed-up dab page, with a narrative description of the parent company and subsidiaries that could all reasonably be described as "JP Morgan Bank". If we take a readers first approach, the current target is likely to be more helpful than sending them to J. P. Morgan (disambiguation) to guess which bank they want to read about or to one of the articles on the subsidiaries. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 23:49, 17 February 2026 (UTC)
