Donald J. Harris' article does not suggest that he specifically was referred to as "Donald J" without his surname. This name could refer to a number of people named Donald with middle names beginning with J, including Donald Trump and many others. Given the number of notable people this name could refer to, I think it makes sense to use this as a disambiguation page, perhaps at the title "Donald J." for formatting reasons. Uffda608 (talk) 11:02, 5 March 2026 (UTC)

  • Delete as highly ambiguous and akin to the deleted redirect at Michael J. There's no way of telling if this refers to a middle initial or last name. - Eureka Lott 17:16, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Delete Trump would probably be expected here and the current target may surprise people. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:17, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Delete. There is no evidence that Donald J. Trump or Donald J. Harris or any other subject is regularly referred to as "Donald J". By deleting this, search results will reveal article titles and redirects that begin with "Donald J" which will help anyone who might search this. Redirecting to Donald or Donald#Donald isn't especially helpful since the list of people with this name is quite long and not everyone named "Donald J. Lastname" has the J included in the dab entry. A separate Donald J dab page does not seem warranted since, again, we don't have a list of people who are routinely referred to as "Donald J". I agree that the "Michael J" precedent applies and this is really an extension of our typical practice. We don't usually make first or last name primary redirects unless the subject is commonly referred to mononymously and is the clear primary topic for the first or last name, as in BritneyBritney or ObamaObama. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 01:55, 6 March 2026 (UTC)

  • Delete. My first thought was vehicle registration plates of Iran but the nom and Johnbod thinking of tectonic plates and dishware suggest that this is ambiguous. Thryduulf (talk) 11:54, 9 February 2026 (UTC)
  • Note: Iranian Plate with a capital "P" also targets Iranian plateau. There is a Wikidata item for this redirect which includes links to 7 other languages. Looking at the Japanese article ja:イランプレート shows that Iranian Plate might exist as it is mentioned as the English translation. However, I agree that lowercase is ambiguous. @Lunamann: I don't think these should be bundled since the uppercase version seems less ambiguous. I find it much less plausible for "Iranian Plate" to be thought of as referring to dishware or vehicle registration. I think the spirit of WP:DIFFCAPS (interpreted for redirects) applies here. Left guide (talk) 03:08, 10 February 2026 (UTC)
  • FWIW, there's discussion of "Iranian plate" at Geology of Iran#Zagros:

The Zagros fold and thrust belt was formed by the collision of two tectonic plates – the Iranian plate and the Arabian plate...The process of collision continues to the present and as the Arabian plate is being pushed against the Iranian plate, the Zagros Mountains and the Iranian plateau are getting higher and higher.

  • Keep as long as Iranian Plate exists, otherwise bundle for further discussion. This nomination is about the tectonic plate, not the ambiguity. I don't think the singular "plate" would refer to dishware or vehicle plates. Jay 💬 04:22, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
Keeping really isn't helpful here, as there is no mention of an "Iranian plate" at the target. Regardless of what meaning of plate you are looking for, the current target isn't going to give you any relevant information. Thryduulf (talk) 05:01, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
@Thryduulf: I'm struggling to understand your logic here. You !voted 'keep' at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2026 February 5#Lady GaGa (band), despite the fact that there was no mention of the band in the target article. – wbm1058 (talk) 16:48, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
The difference is the presence or absence of relevant content. If you are searching for "Lady GaGa (band)" you are unambiguously looking for a musical artist and the target article, about the musical artist by that name, makes it clear that the artist you are looking for is a solo artist not a band - i.e. the searcher has found the content they are looking for. Here, even if they are looking for the geology topic and not one of the other things this could mean, there isn't any relevant content about that in the article they land at. What's the difference between a tectonic plate and a plateau? Editors seem to think the terms are synonymous. List of tectonic plates § Microplates says that the Iranian plate is a sub-part of the Eurasian plate. The {{Tectonic plates}} navigation box lists this as a valid microplate. – wbm1058 (talk) 15:56, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
I asked ChatGPT for help with resolving this:
    Q. Is there an "Iranian tectonic plate"?
Short answer: No, there isn’t an officially recognized “Iranian tectonic plate.” Iran is mainly located on the southern edge of the Eurasian Plate, right where it collides with the Arabian Plate. This collision zone is one of the most geologically active regions in the world. The Arabian Plate is pushing northward into Eurasia at a rate of about 2–3 cm per year. Iran is mostly considered part of the Eurasian Plate (to the north).
Why Some People Mention an “Iranian Plate”
Geologists sometimes describe microplates or crustal blocks within Iran, such as the Central Iranian Block and the Lut Block. These are not full tectonic plates, but smaller crustal fragments caught between major plates.
Hmm, we could disambiguate from Iranian plateware and license plates with Iranian microplate. Mentioned at Talk:1997 Qayen earthquake#Background and geology. – wbm1058 (talk) 16:04, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
    Q. tell me about the Iranian microplate
The Iranian microplate is a relatively small tectonic block located between the major Arabian Plate to the southwest and the Eurasian Plate to the north. It plays a central role in shaping the geology and seismic activity of Iran and surrounding regions. The Iranian microplate lies beneath most of modern-day Iran and parts of neighboring countries. It acts as a “buffer zone” in the collision between Arabia and Eurasia.
There you go. That looks like the basis for a new stub article to me. Just don't go and get an {{LLM}} tag slapped on it. – wbm1058 (talk) 16:04, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
  • check* It's simply not true that this is not mentioned in the target article – it is, albeit not by the same name:
@Wbm1058 this all requires you knowing beforehand that the subject might also sometimes be called the Iranian plate, but that is not knowledge we can assume. Without the knowledge of this RfD I would not have been helped by this redirect to this article if looking up information about the Iranian Plate. Thryduulf (talk) 12:20, 22 February 2026 (UTC)
  • Retarget to List of earthquakes in Iran. That article contains a brief definition of the subplate along with general tectonic information, most notably including a map of faults on the plate. I'm sympathetic to keeping as is, but I don't think the Iranian plate and plateau are coextensive. The plate also includes half of the mountain ranges surrounding the plateau. Usefully, my proposed target has a prominent link to Iranian plate anyway. Third choice deletion in favour of article creation, and also to mitigate the minor ambiguity problems. • Lean keep or subtarget to Iranian plateau#Geology, unless we have a target that better explains the presumably complex geologic situation here where multiple major plates are colliding. I can't find a definitive source at a look that really defines the purported plate (also found a mention of a Turkish-Iranian plate) so perhaps geological consensus is unclear, but being pointed to the plateau puts readers in the right direction and includes the geology section which rather briefly touches upon the topic. Not everyone searching "The Poles" are looking for Polish people. I searched "the poles" when I was trying to look for the North and South Poles (mentioned at geographical poles), but the current redirect does not address this. Of the two uses in articles, one refers to Polish people while the other refers to a band where a redirect The Poles (band) exists and redirects to Michaele Jordana. Vague description and overly presumptuous targeting when this is far from the only Donald with a Wikipedia article to be named after a father. It's akin to assuming "Donald John" always means him or his dad. Deletion is the best option here when the redirect is implausible. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 01:20, 5 March 2026 (UTC)

  • Is there any evidence that any of these other folks are referred to as "Donald Jr." in reliable sources or even commonly in wiki-unreliable sources? The dab page Donald lists only three with "Jr." in the name—it had only two before I added Donald Trump Jr. The other two are Donald M. Campbell Jr. and D. J. Trahan (aka Donald Roland "D.J." Trahan, Jr.). Trump has an enormous pageviews lead over the other two. Of course it's possible there are other Donald Jr.'s not listed on the dab page. I hear Trump referred to as "Donald Jr." and (more often) "Don Jr." fairly frequently. This probably reflects at least some contribution of US-centrism and following too much politics news but I'm leaning toward 'keep' and maybe adding a hatnote for completeness. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 02:48, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
    • Discrepancies in page views at least partially are due to the current target placement skewing things. Don't let that or American media coverage give you the impression that any others are negligible. A quick glance at searches for "Donald Jr." show many men who aren't Trump, Campbell, or Trahan. We'd be remiss to not account for them and their existence here. Furthermore, keeping the current target would be quite US-centric for sure. Going off only a few entries from a DAB is also rather limiting. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 03:10, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
      • Pageviews for the redirect are a fraction of those for the target and he is the most well Donald Jr. A plausible explanation for the pageviews and the usage evidence is that many readers search this and land at the intended article. A hatnote could aid the small number of readers searching for a different Donald Jr. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 03:55, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Keep clearly the primary topic. I searched google (from the UK, so less American biased) for "Donald Jr." and 100% of results on the first four pages were for Donald Trump Jr. I searched again, this time for "Donald Junior", this time on the first four pages only three results about specific individuals were not about Trump - a 2012 local newspaper story about a non-notable individual, a 19th century merchant from Aberdeen named "William Donald Junior" and a French-language comic about Donald Duck as a child. One of the results not about a specific person was an instagram search for the term (I don't use that platform so results shouldn't be strongly tailored), every single one of the stories(?) about an identifiable topic was about the son of the current US president. Thryduulf (talk) 03:14, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
    • You appear to have misunderstood the concerns; he is by no means the only person one could plausibly refer to when saying "Donald Jr.", and it's not a good idea to treat him as the default subject matter or only case who matters. One precedent I had in mind was WP:Redirects for discussion/Log/2015 January 10#Meghan Elizabeth where a middle name could be used for many individuals who have a particular first name. Perhaps it would've helped to link that earlier. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 03:20, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
Your concerns are clear but Trump appears to be the primary topic. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 03:46, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
You appear to have misunderstood WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. I'm not saying he is the only person who could be plausibly referred to as "Donald Jr.", I'm saying that people searching Wikipedia using the search term "Donald Jr." are more likely to be looking for the article about Donald Trump Jr. than they are about all the other people who might be referred to by this name about whom we have content. There are very few similarities with the Meghan Elizabeth case - the target wasn't commonly referred to by that name, nor was she the primary topic for that search term. Thryduulf (talk) 03:50, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
        • Being a primary topic doesn't negate how the redirect is vague compared to something like "William Rockefeller" for William Rockefeller Jr. or "Charles Chaplin" for Charlie Chaplin. Suffixes alone aren't exactly in the same field of disambiguating topics when those paired with first names can be attached to countless different last names. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 04:08, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
          • The point is that, in practice, the redirect isn't vague, even though it might be in theory. The evidence shows that this overwhelmingly refers to a single specific subject - indeed having a primary topic and being vague are mutually exclusive (although the inverse is not true, not everything that lacks a primary topic is vague). While there are multiple other people named "Donald Junior", we would need evidence that many of them are commonly referred to as just "Donald Jr." at least nearly as frequently as Donald Trump Jr is before the search term could be considered vague. If that evidence exists it hasn't been presented here, and I have not been able to find it. Googling "Donald Jr." -Trump the primary topic is the 110th episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Searching "Donald Jr." in the internal search engine finds the previously mentioned episode, mentions of Donald Trump Jr. and passing mentions of mainly non-notable people with the name.
It's not impossible that Myceteae and myself are missing something, but if we are you need to present that evidence so it can be evaluated against the evidence we did find that shows a very clear primary topic. Thryduulf (talk) 04:44, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
Green tickY Agreed. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 17:48, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Strong keep per Thryduulf's and my statements above, including Thryduulf's evidence of usage in external sources, which confirms my prior experience, and per usage in article space. Donald Trump Jr. is the primary topic for "Donald Jr." A {{Redirect}} hatnote can be added for the rare reader searching for some other Donald Jr. Additionally, all eight of the uses of this redirect in articles refer to Donald Trump, Jr.I was initially surprised to see so many uses since this seems informal, but the usage of "Donald Jr." in articles is consistent with the way other sources use this, specifically when using first names to list multiple members of the Trump family or when distinguishing between father and son. This redirect has over 2,000 views per days—more than most articles! It is appropriate and clearly very useful. —Myceteae🍄‍🟫 (talk) 14:45, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
