"Famous people from Abergele include Lisa Scott-Lee of Steps who went to school at Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan, and Geraint Archer, member of the REME in the army, who also attended Ysgol Emrys ap Iwan. Approximately 29% of Abergele has a significant knowledge of Welsh, but the town has a large population of people from England, namely Manchester and Liverpool. Famous DJ, Daniel Jones , who came to fame on Denbigh Radio, attended local school Emrys ap Iwan. He was diagnosed with depression in late 2006 when his girlfriend, local stripper from denbigh had been caught with local playboy, Simon Jones-"
Is all of this relevant? Surely the local language situation belongs elsewhere in the article. I can possibly see why Lisa Scott Lee is mentioned, but who are the others? Why should anyone care? I live in the town and I have never heard of them.

Talk:Breast#Small Problem
Hello! I'm Muhammad Peter H. (18M), from Indonesia. Obviously, my university's Wi-Fi bans porn sites. And they didn't manage to ban Wikipedia for obvious reasons. This seems like fine and all, but one thing: My friend (19M) decided to masturbate to the main picture. He says "it's a good pair of boobs" and all, but I was afraid if he could get in any trouble, and I am SUPER afraid if my university bans Wikipedia, given how reliable it is and how much dedicated editors are there.
This page has a lot of pictures of naked breasts. I get they can be for academic use, but more people find erotic value rather than scientific, like my friend who studies statistics and not biology. My friend masturbated to this page in the boy's bathroom, and I heard him moaning and whimpering femininely, much to my dismay, and I saw a puddle of his semen on the floor.
Regardless of whether this is his fault, if the editors have just removed the pictures of naked breasts here, he wouldn't have done this. There's still explicit media on a WIKIPEDIA page.
I have one small request: Can you remove the explicit contents of this page?
Thanks, Peter H. ~2025-35393-52 (talk) 11:38, 21 November 2025 (UTC)

I've noticed for a while about the photo used as the lead picture for the article. It really bothers me. Not only is the primary example of a human being not good, it also is low quality and very context based. Fill me in. ~2025-38581-58 (talk) 00:44, 5 December 2025 (UTC)
- See the FAQ at the top of this page. AndyTheGrump (talk) 01:23, 5 December 2025 (UTC)
- I agree, there are some things not in the FAQ which remain unanswered. Humans don't naturally wear clothing for example, we wouldn't use a photo of a dog in clothes as an infobox image for a specific dog breed. The "use of cultural products such as clothing" clause in A7 does not explain how that is a) neccesary for an article which discussing the biology of humanity or b) how clothing (generally) is a cultural product that is worth noting. TansoShoshen (talk) 15:29, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
- Humans do naturally wear clothing though. Almost every single human civilization and culture on planet earth wear clothing all the time, except in specific, out-of-sight, situations such as cleaning oneself and sexual intercourse.
- Besides, if someone wants to learn about true human anatomy, then they can see the unclothed male and female images that are already present on the page ~2026-26185-3 (talk) 07:51, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
- You might be interested in / may want to add a see-also to: Prehistory of nakedness and clothing, and specifically #Origin of clothing part.
- Current evidence indicates that anatomically-modern humans were naked in prehistory for at least 90,000 years before they invented clothing. Today, isolated Indigenous peoples in tropical climates continue to be without clothing in many everyday activities. [...] A 2010 study published in Molecular Biology and Evolution indicates that the habitual wearing of clothing began at some point in time between 83,000 years ago and 170,000 years ago based upon a genetic analysis indicating when clothing lice diverged from their head louse ancestors.
- Whether this justifies using clothed individuals as lede picture is up to you. I personally find individuals with utilitarian, simple pre-industrial clothing to be more representative of humans, for such use of clothing was normalized long, long before recorded history started, (and a necessity for survival when we migrated north towards the Arctic). 海盐沙冰 / aka irisChronomia / Talk 08:11, 13 January 2026 (UTC)

- Humans typically wear clothing though. If most dogs were wearing clothing I'm pretty sure the picture would have clothing. A picture representing Humans is supposed to.... represent Humans! And almost all Humans, in almost all cultures, in every continents since thousands of years, wear clothes. Putting two naked Humans in the first picture of the article would, in fact, be pretty unrepresentative on how Humans look imho, this is not just an article about biology but also about culture, society, etc Cosmiaou (talk) 11:06, 13 January 2026 (UTC)

Talk:Inherently funny word
This page still bemuses me. What pray tell is inherently funny about the word "sock" without context? (I'm sure I'll regret asking this). Mintguy 17:31 21 May 2003 (UTC)
I asked this before, but noone said anything: Are you saying that if I ask my mother "Have you seen the other sock of this pair?", she will burst out laughing at my funny question? Also, the article says that badger is funny because it's an unusual word. This is an example of the POV - where I live badgers are fairly common. I maintain that no word is inherently funny. CGS 17:42 21 May 2003 (UTC).
- Yes CGS I noted that you got no reply, which is why I repeated it. It the word 'Jam' inherently funny? I would say no. But then Eddie Izzard uses the word when he can't think of something to say. It's all to do with context. Mintguy
- CGS, I just want to let you know that when I read in your comment above, "where I live badgers are fairly common", I burst out laughing. Guppy 15:20, 25 Sep 2003 (UTC)
- "Sock" is not supposed to be funny without context. Actually, I might not consider it inherently funny, unless said in a British accent with sharp emphasis. Few words are funny on their own (although there are many notable exceptions: rutabaga, belch, googol). The article says "to enhance the humor of their comic routines", which is entirely different. As I've noted already, this means that, for example, a joke about vegetables is inevitably going to be funnier when the teller says "rutabaga" instead of "celery". In a joke about mammals, "badger" will be funnier than "cat". Hi everyone! I was patrolling some logs and found that this Temporary Account had just created two sub-pages within Favonian's user talk space (User talk:Favonian/IP and User talk:Favonian/IP 2) in order to add abuse to them. I initially G3'd both of them, but realized that these locations may have been sub-pages that Favonian initially created so that IP users could still leave messages while Favonian's top-level user talk page was protected due to persistent abuse. So, I went back and re-created them with blank content. However, I then went and checked the creation logs of both of these pages in order to confirm this, and saw these instead: , . According to these logs, this TA was able to create both of these pages, which I thought wasn't possible unless you had a confirmed or autoconfirmed named account. What am I missing here? Can someone help sort out my confusion here? ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 21:25, 12 January 2026 (UTC)

- 1) Ideas and words that people come up with are rarely original, there's always a chance someone has thought of it before them. 2) You did not pursue copyright of the word. 3) You are not losing anything because Munroe used it in his comic. 4) Any legal action would be ridiculous. 5) Wikipedia:No legal threats means exactly how it reads, and the consequence for violating it is an instant block until the threat is withdrawn. If you cannot do so, then it is clear that "malamanteau" is my intellectual property. Randall's dishonest claims about its origins are harming the prospects of my upcoming "malamanteau" business ventures, including a planned TV series and a line of women's fragrances. - I'll happily grant you possession of the word and the accompanying Talk page clusterfuck. As I said in a couple places, there was one hit for the word when I did the comic (yours), which I found after posting and which didn't define it the same way. But I'd be happy to give you credit for coming up with the word before I did (I didn't even mean to invent a word), especially if it means you have to argue about the word's inclusion in Wikipedia. Let's work out an agreement. Can we have your people meet with my people, and then get them to fight to the death in some kind of a cage? I think that would be awesome, as my people are pretty scrappy and I assume yours have been training since at least July 2007.--xkcd (talk) 20:40, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
- I would gladly accept your challenge Mr. Munroe, but you must realize that it is a foolhardy one, as your leopard style will surely be no match for my crane style. However, I am feeling charitable today -- if you'd like a legitimate piece of the burgeoning "malamanteau" industry rather than the misbegotten share you currently hold, I might be persuaded to offer you an executive producer credit on the "malamanteau" feature film currently in pre-production. I received word this morning that Ridley Scott has committed to the project. That, however, is the limit of my generosity, and I would advise you not to test me further. 76.99.24.196 (talk) 20:54, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

- To the anon claiming that a single word is his intellectual property: I suggest you learn a little something about United States copyright law. It is true that one does not have to apply for copyright in order to obtain it; however, it is also true that single words or short phrases are rarely eligible for copyright protection. Slogans and words used by companies are covered by trademark law, which is rather different from copyright law, as it DOES have to be applied for. In short, your use of a single word is ineligible for copyright, sorry. But don't take my word for it: the United States Copyright Office itself says it all here: title 17 of the US Code defines what is copyrightable, and single words fall decidedly outside of the criteria. かんぱい! Oppose. Humans are, on average, very interested in the human penis, whether they are fans, detractors, or have a more complex opinion. Regardless of whether it "should" be its own Wikipedia article or not, as long as Wikipedia is written primarily by and for humans, it is likely to have an article on the human penis. The lack of a distinct article on "Human vagina" almost certainly reflects the cultural impact of sexism -- why else would the human penis stick out further in the body of secondary references Wikipedia uses? -- but Wikipedia reflects the society we have erected, for better or for worse; Wikipedia explicitly does not help WP:RIGHTGREATWRONGS. - I suspect Netherite and Bombastium are both under copyright, and that could cause complications for the WMF, especially if they start to make the physical medals. There's also the non trivial matter that fictional elements don't actually exist. Lead is indeed a toxic element, and lead shouldn't be used for drinking vessels, cosmetics or anything that children will chew on. But a medal given to adults is less likely to be chewed.
