As the creator of this template, I say feel free to delete it. The lichen wikiproject was considering setting these up for all of the various lichen families, but decided we needed to get the various articles in place first. Nobody should be closing an AfD with consensus to merge if there's no consensus to merge to a particular target. I do know that no competent AfD closer would ever close a discussion as "merge to somewhere to be determined". • Delete – No closer would close as "merge somewhere". The template should intentionally be deleted to discourage this kind of closure, as its existence implicitly allows it. I don't think the fact that AfD closers should define a target is controversial, especially now that PAM was deprecated and formal merge proposal now have to be discussed there. A template about "right-wing terrorism" where the vast majority of articles are not actually about right-wing terrorism. I was going to cut out the ones that failed WP:BIDIRECTIONAL and were too tangential to add, but I found that was all of them except a handful better included in other navboxes, which is not enough to be separate from template:terrorism topics, our various and numerous far-right politics navboxes, or which doesn't mention terrorism at all. This is basically every topic about terrorism, not right-wing terrorism, including links to left-wing terrorism, narcoterrorism, eco-terrorism, and environmental terrorism. Every kind of terrorism is in this navbox, it seems, certainly not "right-wing" kinds. Not at all tightly related to "right-wing terrorism" (except in the construct of terrorism, which has its own navbox), and so this fails WP:NAVBOX. This is a poor duplicate of the main terrorism navbox with no content specific to right-wing terror, and if we were to remove all the inappropriate inclusions there would be almost nothing. See also previous deletion discussion for a similar navbox made by the same creator though with a very different scope. PARAKANYAA (talk) 03:56, 12 April 2026 (UTC)

• Keep It is derived from the 68 "see also" links that were previously on the page. I removed them from the page and created a Navbox because 68 links is too many; I left out the most severely off topic links that were in "see also". It needs some further refinements, but the links worth keeping are probably more than what fits in a "See also" section. The other template was a list of attacks based on Category:Right-wing terrorist incidents. So? If the see also links were bad putting them into a template doesn't make them less bad. If anything, here it is less appropriate. It is an inappropriate navbox per WP:NAVBOX. The vast majority of entries do not even mention right-wing terrorism, much less are defined by it, or have any use use navigating from it.

You've included, and added this as a template to, Communist terrorism, the Cold War, the entire history of terrorism, all kinds of non-right wing terrorism, numerous articles that have nothing to do with terrorism, state terrorism, state-sponsored terrorism, left-wing terrorism, eco-terrorism, lists that include left-wing terrorism and many extremely broad topics that have nothing to do with terrorism at all. This is not a tightly related series of subjects. If you're going to duplicate entirely navboxes that already exist, why do we have another one? Anything useful here is redundant to the terrorism topic infobox or our half dozen far-right politics navboxes. It fails to be a useful navigation aid.

The 68 links from see also were to numerous. That was the main problem. About 20 or 30 are probably worth keeping. This is still too many for a see also section. I am finding it difficult to assume good faith when I see LateNightCoffee adding this template to what I consider an inappropriate page while in the middle of a discussion about whether to delete the template.

There is nothing about the article Conspiracy theory that justifies applying Template:Right-wing terrorism topics. See:

Leaving aside the fact that this template has been stuffed with inappropriate pages, even if we fix that problem, the template still fails WP:NAVBOX, which says

Good navboxes generally follow these guidelines:

All articles within a template relate to a single, coherent subject. FAILS

The subject of the template should be mentioned in every article. FAILS

The articles should refer to each other, to a reasonable extent. FAILS

There should be a Wikipedia article on the subject of the template. PASSES

If not for the navigation template, an editor would be inclined to link many of these articles in the See also sections of the articles. FAILS

The worst terrorist attack in my region, the Christchurch mosque shootings was directly connected to the Great Replacement conspiracy theory. The terrorist's manifesto had that title, and that was the reason he claimed he did it. I didn't check to see if it was already mentioned, but it possibly should be. I wrote "I am finding it difficult to assume good faith". I am still assuming good faith, but you are making that hard to do. Most people don't continue adding the templates they created to new pages when they know that there is an ongoing discussion about deleting the template. There isn't a specific policy saying you can't do it, but it doesn't indicate a desire to seek consensus.

One example does not a category make. Extreme right wing terrorist Brenton Tarrant wrote a manifesto expressing right wing beliefs and referencing right wing conspiracy theories. Extreme left wing terrorist Ted Kaczynski wrote a manifesto expressing left wing beliefs and referencing left wing conspiracy theories (See Technological Slavery) That would not justify replacing your right-wing terrorism template with a left-wing terrorism template on Conspiracy theory. The deletion notice appears on every instance of the template, if anything it attracts more people to the consensus discussion. If the discussion closes as delete then it's removed by a bot. Ted Kaczynski is not someone I have ever heard described as "left-wing". The first mention of "left" on that page is:

I already gave you citations to The American Journal of Political science, Political Psychology, and The New York Times establishing that both the far left and the far right believe various conspiracy theories and that there exist far right and far left terrorists. @Guy Macon, those citations aren't relevant. They would be relevant for including a link to conspiracy theory in Navbox about left-wing politics. This template isn't about left wing politics, it's not even about right-wing voters or other aspects of right wing-politics, it's specific to right-wing terrorism. @Guy Macon: The conspiracy theory page was one of the 68 links in the giant "See also" section of right-wing terrorism and is somewhat relevant. Currently it is the link for a group title, I added the more directly relevant pages to that group's list.

Many navboxes have very broad pages linked as group titles – e.g. {{Music of Asia}} and every other template based on {{Asia topic}} link list of sovereign states – but the group title doesn't really need a link, we can change to unlinked:

2. Conspiracy theories Great Replacement...

Delete per nom and Guy Macon. For reference I found this template on Radical right (Europe), whereby the only connection to terrorism is a German scientist quoted as saying the radical right can be scaled by using different degrees of militancy and aggressiveness from right-wing populism to racism, terrorism, and totalitarianism.. Come on, that's simply not good enough as a connection to "right-wing terrorism", only tangibly to terrorism itself based on RSOPINION. This template is yet another example of misunderstanding the purpose of NAVBOX, of which I see as increasing issue on WP at the moment: it's for bidirectional links between similar enough subjects, not anything remotely related. Usually this means a set of child articles, of which right-wing terrorism doesn't appear to have any? CNC (talk) 11:09, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
