Having both {{WikiProject Beetles}} or {{WikiProject Lepidoptera}} and {{WikiProject Insects}} on one talk page would be redundant. I recommend making Beetles and Lepidoptera task forces of Insects, as the latter WikiProject is supposed to document ALL types of insects. - OpalYosutebito 『talk』 『articles I want to eat』 14:30, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
- I'm not sure this is the right venue for closing/merging WikiProjects. jlwoodwa (talk) 15:17, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
- jlwoodwa is correct. The templates should reflect the project pages. So if you'd need to convert the project to a task force then the templates can be merged. Gonnym (talk) 17:17, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
- I can't edit the templates (I'm not a template editor), so I don't know where else to go. I'll edit Template talk:WikiProject Beetles and Template talk:WikiProject Lepidoptera for help - OpalYosutebito 『talk』 『articles I want to eat』 19:03, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
- You should have the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Beetles and invite members of Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Insects and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Lepidoptera. If that discussion leads to a merge, then a full merge process happens, which includes moving pages and categories and merging templates. Gonnym (talk) 18:41, 24 February 2026 (UTC)

Used by just nine articles. Not popular enough, and "sad" is... well, sad to watch. (Did ask the creator about this template, but then was told to list this template first before doing anything else to it.) George Ho (talk) 18:48, 28 January 2026 (UTC)
If anything, should be substituted and then deleted. --George Ho (talk) 02:06, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
- Keep I just don't see the justification for removal of a potentially useful template. "Only used on nine articles" isn't one of the WP:TFD#REASONS. --Ahecht (TALK
PAGE) 15:25, 29 January 2026 (UTC) - Delete: No more complex then using no template, and no substantial reason to use the template in place of basic wikitext. Our use of table templates also confounds the likes of TemplateStyles and VisualEditor and so from that perspective I prefer deletion also. Low use is an additional reason to delete. - delete after substitution. the expanded version isn't that much more complicated, and easier to understand. or, in most cases, just removing the template wrapping like here and here as the table sorts fine without the use of the template. Frietjes (talk) 16:17, 23 February 2026 (UTC)

Template:Subjective category and Template:Categorization of people disputed
- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more templates or modules. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as the template's talk page or in a deletion review).
The result of the discussion was no consensus. If further work is needed to make these templates "make sense" (even if that means merging them) then that can probably proceed using the normal processes. Primefac (talk) 16:47, 8 March 2026 (UTC)
- Template:Subjective category (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
- Template:Categorization of people disputed (talk · history · transclusions · logs · subpages)
These templates are designed to be added to categories like maintenance templates; however, they don't have tracking categories and there's no clear information given on the categories that use them on what exactly the problem is or how to fix it. The documentation states that they should be used "If it seems clear to you that there are "inappropriate" articles in the category". That's just encouraging people who disagree with a category to tag it with an official-looking notice, but that doesn't help in any way and is often purely the subjective opinion of one person. Rather than this, issues with a category should be immediately addressed by removing inappropriate articles from the category or bringing the category to CfD. Currently, nothing is being done to address the issues, and it's not clear why the notices have even been added. For example, {{Categorization of people disputed}} was added to Category:Occitan people in 2007, and there is no discussion on its talk page. Mclay1 (talk) 06:03, 8 February 2026 (UTC)

Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, Servite et contribuere (talk) 05:24, 23 February 2026 (UTC)- I find them useful because they show links to policies. However, that would also be useful in undisputed categories as well, and it serves as a disclaimer banner. Many times people are adding articles to the category tree without seeing, especially when this template is in a fully diffused category, so ordinarily worthless. I believe @Smasongarrison would have a stronger opinion Abesca (talk) 04:35, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- Perhaps requiring the template to include an explanation of what's disputable would be helpful? SMasonGarrison 05:22, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- We do have Template:Contentious label category. It could be worth have a (different) template for categories that have the potential for BLP issues, just explaining that the category is for people and linking to the BLP policies. I don't think they should be used specifically when someone takes umbrage with a particular category though; it's just not the correct way to deal with categorisation issues. The result of the discussion was no consensus. So after over a month, it is time for a close. So honestly, after looking at it, the two templates appear to have some differences, but I decided not to vote anyways, because this should not have been re listed a 4th time. The user who re listed a 4th time is a very new user, and likely lacks the experience or knowledge to understand that re lists should generally only happen 2 or 3 times. (non-admin closure) Servite et contribuere (talk) 00:29, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
Redundant to Template:Defunct Chinese provinces. A more comprehensive navbox for its subject matter. As far as I've seen, both navboxes are used on the same articles. So it makes the tranclusions overkill. WikiCleanerMan (talk) 02:58, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
- Comment: both templates seem to lead to links that don't support the "defunct" group so it's hard to really comment on this. {{Defunct Chinese provinces}} does seem to include most of the links, but again, I have no idea if the entire set of links is even correct.
