Expired editnotice about a WP:TPO issue that is likely not relevant anymore. There was a heated debate on the talk page leading up to an AfD (that ultimately closed as keep). –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 22:35, 12 May 2026 (UTC)

An emphatic and heart-felt Meh - Deleting the editnotice merely obscures the past issues from non-admins. Not a lot of point keeping it. Less point in deleting it. Even less point discussing it. As an aside, strange that this crops up in the same week the Baldoni/Lively case got settled which is what prompted Flaa's opportunistic self-promotion in the first place. The result of the discussion was delete. I would note that the last request at the list article was 9 months ago with the previous attempt being made in 2022. If there is a resurgence of this sort of requests I see no prejudice against restoration or recreation for the list article's talk. Primefac (talk) 10:33, 21 May 2026 (UTC)

Expired editnotice; people are now listed at List of people with absolute pitch. Should this editnotice be deleted, or moved to List of people with absolute pitch and marked as permanent? –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 22:31, 12 May 2026 (UTC)

Editnotice expired in 2022. Are live updates still an issue at the article? –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 22:30, 12 May 2026 (UTC)

@LaundryPizza03: Unlike many of the others nominated for similar reasons, this could have recurring utility instead of being used only once, since the World Cup consistently and predictably occurs every four years, with the next one being the 2026 FIFA World Cup starting next month. Left guide (talk) 23:40, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
Yeah, sometime between now and the opening game just update the expiry date to be 20 July 2026 to cover the tournament. Spike 'em (talk) 07:26, 13 May 2026 (UTC)

Some editnotice pages where all editnotices have expired. Since expired editnotices don't display while editing a page, they may technically qualify for CSD T5, though we'd have to set a precedent for that. The largest and least controversial group is these notices for organized sporting events and elections in the past, making up about half of the current items in Category:Expired editnotices. –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 22:16, 12 May 2026 (UTC)

  • Delete per nom. I was the original creator of this, but that was under different circumstances as it was formerly a one-stop list for all Canadian writers across the board — but size management needs have long since seen it revised to the "list of smaller lists" structure, so this is no longer needed since the page doesn't directly list writers itself anymore. It's useless in its current format but can be rescued by returning to the version before the edits of two weeks ago. Restore version before 28th April. DrKay (talk) 21:27, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
Can you explain why this version is more useful? You also did not mention that you are the author of the 28th April version and (I assume) disagree with subsequent edits, but you did not open a talk page discussion at that time. Choucas0 🐦‍⬛ 10:21, 13 May 2026 (UTC)
Keep. The nominated version was useless because it only had as few as two links and all the articles were already linked anyway outside of the sidebar. The restored version has 8 links and those links are not otherwise linked to each other in the transcluded articles despite being on a similar topic, and therefore fulfils the purposes of a sidebar/navbox. I am not the author of the earlier/restored version, merely a bystander. DrKay (talk) 16:41, 13 May 2026 (UTC)

The result of the discussion was merge to Template:Country data Taiwan. Primefac (talk) 10:11, 21 May 2026 (UTC)

Propose merging Template:Country data Republic of China with Template:Country data Taiwan.
After looking at both templates, it is clear that all of the information in the Template:Country data Republic of China is identical to the one in Template:Country data Taiwan, not to mention that Template:Country data Taiwan is more comprehensive. Perhaps it is easier to keep both templates, but I believe that would mean twice the work for any changes.

I am not familar with the technical aspect of a merger for these templates, but I would hope making "Republic of China", "ROC", and "China, Republic of" aliases of Template:Country data Taiwan would maintain continuity and avoid any technical problems. Here is what would need to be added to Template:Country data Taiwan. I also added "Republic of China (Taiwan)", as I use this to mention Taiwan while maintaining the formal name due to historical significance.

| redir2 = Republic of China
| redir3 = ROC
| redir4 = China, Republic of
| redir5 = Republic of China (Taiwan)
| redir6 = Taiwan (Republic of China)
Wasting time is still my passion (talk) 00:47, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
While I do see the vision. I do wonder if this would confuse people, as a question, does Republic of China mean from foundation to now or does the one for the ROC go only to when the mainland had control seized by the PRC? F1fan00 (talk) 11:00, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
Currently the two templates don't have any differences in data (with the Template:Country data Taiwan having more), so if anyone believes that there can be confusion, then they should at least provide a data value that would differ between the two.
Also, Template:Country data Republic of China (1912–1949) exists. Wasting time is still my passion (talk) 12:24, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
I think this specific template should be linked prominently on the top of the documentation for the aforementioned ones; I am not a template editor so I cannot do it myself though. Choucas0 🐦‍⬛ 14:51, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
Merge A merger makes sense here, with the full overlap of contents and use. I am definitely in favor of simply aliasing with the six redirects proposed in the nomination, that would be an elegant solution that means no change needs to happen in mainspace (as far as I understand). Choucas0 🐦‍⬛ 14:48, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
Merge Given that the main Republic of China article redirects to Taiwan, I would think supporting pages/elements named "Republic of China" should similarly redirect to their "Taiwan" counterparts for the sake of consistency. — SirOlgen (talk) 15:14, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
Merge I do not see any reason why this shouldn't have already been the case. However i do think there still exists the possibility of confusion between the pre 1949 ROC and post 1949 ROC. BreadStickGuy (talk) 15:55, 12 May 2026 (UTC)
