 Linking to a section of an article
Sometimes it is preferable to refer to a section of a page when linking, rather than to the whole page. You can create a link to any subheading on any page in Wikipedia by including a For example: Wikipedia:Community portal#Help out. In all section links, be sure to use a piped link for readability. Using a piped link, the previous example looks like this: Help out. If a section title changes, rather than going red/inactive, the link will lead to the top of the linked page. – – To add this auto-randomizing template to your user page, use {{totd-random}} |

How to create a category
Let us say you have thought of a new category you want to place some articles in. To create this new category, go to one of the pages that you wish to put there, and add a category tag naming the new category to the end of the article, like this:

You will need to put a parent category on the new page, and then save the page. Going forward you can put your newly named category at the bottom of pages that you wish to add your new category to. The Tip of the Day project provides a different piece of advice for using Wikipedia every day. Like the Picture of the Day, you can include it on your userpage by adding {{totd}} somewhere (at the top of your talk page is a good place for it). The randomized version (displayed above) is {{totd-random}}, and shows a different tip each time it is displayed on your screen. Other formats for the TOTD exist, such as the more compact {{totd3}}, or you can make your own by including {{Wikipedia:Tip of the day/{{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTDAY}}, {{CURRENTYEAR}}}} on your userpage (which includes the raw text, without any formatting) and then enclose it in your own formatting. To float the tip of the day to the right of content (as it is displayed here), place this code where you want the tip to show up: {{right|{{totd3}}}}.

The palm warbler (Setophaga palmarum) is a small songbird in the New World warbler family, Parulidae. It breeds in the United States, Canada and Saint Pierre and Miquelon, and is also found in non-breeding populations throughout eastern North America, Central America and the Caribbean, as far south as Panama. Its habitat includes shrublands, forests, grasslands, wetlands, and human-modified environments. The species comprises two subspecies, which differ in plumage and migration patterns. The palm warbler mainly eats insects and berries and forages on the ground. Its tail bobbing is an identifying characteristic, and its song is a monotonous buzzy trill. This palm warbler of the subspecies S. p. hypochrysea, in breeding plumage, was photographed in Green-Wood Cemetery, New York City, United States.
