- 1979 Salvadoran coup d'état (PizzaKing13)
- The 1979 Salvadoran coup d'état occurred on 15 October when junior officers of the Armed Forces of El Salvador's Military Youth Movement bloodlessly overthrew General Carlos Humberto Romero, the president of El Salvador. This action was motivated by a belief that the country was at risk of falling to a leftist revolution. The coup leaders established the Revolutionary Government Junta that ruled El Salvador until 1982. The Salvadoran Civil War that lasted until 1992 was one of the results of the coup.
