Railway station articles
Various things can be improved here, including:
- Some stations still need to have their S-rail or Template:Adjacent stations boxes moved from the References or External links section into the Services section.
- Some stations lack inline citations for opening/closing/reopening dates. Template:Quick-stations-5.05 can be a helpful reference for any open station and most closed stations. This task is particularly relevant for historical stations, where written material may be particularly useful.
- Some stations have Services sections which have not been updated since before Covid. This can be checked with the timetable from the train operating company or companies, or the eNRT (electronic National Rail Timetable), available on the Network Rail website. Realtime Trains is not regarded as a reliable source for this.
- Some stations still have sections about former stationmasters, although there was a general consensus in 2020 for their removal.
- Some stations need citation for their mileage, which can be found in Track atlas books.
- Some stations need the "Railway stations served by [operator]" navox(es) adding or updating.
- ... and many other stations need copy-editing for SPAG, removal of original research and uncited statements and cleanup in other areas.

Rolling stock articles
- As trains move between operators and operations, reliable sources are needed to verify such moves (usually from railway magazines and reliable online sources).
- Some rolling stock articles may need additional citations to verify construction details and historical operations.

Cleanup backlog
- Mark a section as
In progress if you are working on it, to stop other editors from choosing the same row. - If you solve all articles, strike the issue (
like this) and change the status to
Done. - Do not change the numbers; this will be done weekly or fortnightly
- If an article is tagged with an issue in a previously-fixed row, it will be unstricken and the tick deleted.

Commentary/Discussion
- I'm having an issue with the coordinates-needed articles. Some are entire lines and I simply don't know how you would add coords to something like that, or certainly not a single coord - so I should I de-tag any lines? Also, some are very unlikely to ever have coordinates. Take Badgworth railway station, for example. It's just south of the line between Gloucester and Cheltenham, but the station only existed for three years and was closed by 1846. The trouble with that is there are no detailed maps from back then. Look at NLS side-by-side mapping] and the earliest map is maybe 20 or so years later. So again, if there's no possible way of getting accurate coordinates for any station, should that too be de-tagged as needing coords? Thanks. 10mmsocket (talk) 21:30, 6 June 2026 (UTC)
- In regards to the lines, the best solution is
{{Attached KML}}(e.g. East Coast Main Line) for creating a routemap, but this takes a long time, so I think realistically lines should just be coordinate-free. Anyone desperate to see where they are can click on any of the stations, which are now all geotagged. In regards to former stations, if you leave the category with only the non-obvious ones I will check for those in Butt's Directory of Railway Stations ({{Butt-stations}}), and if they're not there they can probably be removed. - In regards to the lines, the best solution is
- JacobTheRox, 10mmsocket; I will have a crack at these as I have online maps from 1840 onwards which have a side-by-side facility so you can see modern-day satellite imaging against the map, and I can cross-reference with Jowetts Atlas. Might take a little time, but I can get it done. The joy of all things (talk) 08:14, 8 June 2026 (UTC)
- Although Cobb's Atlas would help greatly, but that costs too much! The joy of all things (talk) 08:36, 8 June 2026 (UTC)
