Women in Red is running a series of events in 2026 to improve coverage not only of women themselves but also of the works they created. Many artworks, designs and creative outputs by women remain undocumented, under-described or entirely absent from Wikipedia.

This edit-a-thon invites new and experienced editors to help address this gap by creating and improving articles about notable written works by women. This could include any kinds of written work: novels, short stories, poetry, drama, essays, criticism, memoirs, journalism, academic writing and other forms of published writing. You are also encouraged to expand coverage of individual works that currently exist only as stubs or mentions within biographies.

Writing about books

• The notability guideline for books. Satisfying one or more of these criteria generally means that the book is notable enough (and will have enough coverage) to write an article.

The main goals of the event are:

• to encourage inexperienced editors and show them how they can contribute to Wikipedia by creating articles about written works created by women
• to draw the attention of more experienced editors to the need for concerted action in combating the systemic bias against the coverage of women and women's works
• to promote the new/improved articles and images through social media.
