Since I was a child, I watched Wikipedia grow from a widely mocked website where "anyone could edit" to a highly respected encyclopedia that far exceeds "the best" professional encyclopedias that the world has created.

We, the people, have created something extraordinary. No other project exists like this. Let's hope that the next 25 years is as productive, consensus driven and informative as the last. Wikipedia was founded on a seemingly radical concept; that everyone should have as much knowledge made freely available to them as possible.

We are making great progress towards our goal but there's still so much to be done. If you're new, jump in! Find shorter articles and find reliable sources to bring material into the encyclopedia. Improve where you can, seek consensus and bring facts to everything you do here.

Time went quickly and it has accompanied us for a quarter of a century.

There is two types of “forget”, the first is because something dimmed and totally disappeared in the history, and the second is something totally entered our lives so that we cannot even notice its existence. Wikipedia belongs to the second.

It is hard to find such a website which stands for most of netizen’s mindset, holds an objective attitude to its topics all the time, allows so many people to do useful modifications to its original contents, and always presents with a clean, white interface without any advertisements—even google has google ads in his site. But wikipedia.org did all of this.

Over the years, Countless ordinary netizens who want to share their understandings of let along a single topic rushed to this site, open a page if it has not established, or just modify other’s existing content, then they conflicted, debated with others who may hold totally reversed mindset. In the end, the page will be a mixture and mirror of different cultures, countries, and personalities.

In the earliest time it is only provided in English, now it provides a lot of languages, from cantonese to those less-known. Though an AI translator can easily do that, but wikipedia doesn’t do that, even the content for a same topic in different languages is different.

How many people use it on earth? I am not sure, but I’m sure that when I enter an academic word to google and use its “I am feeling lucky”, it always redirects to its wikipedia page. I think that explains everything.

Things represent themselves as useful not through slogans and advertisements, but depends on their user’s love, its committed spirit and its tolerance to different voices.

That is what lies in the depths of this site, and that is the primary aims of the Internet.

Hope it can continue like this forever, give every user a simple, useful way to get knowledge.

I really can't believe it's been a whole quarter of a century, I've been a registered user for only a year, but I've loved Wikipedia and what it stands for for longer, it's changed mine and many others' lives, I mean isn't it crazy how so much of all human knowledge is right here for everyone to read? Out of all the online communities, I think Wikipedia is one of the best run, thanks to the fact it turns moderation into a transparent and community-driven process run by those who care about the principles of Wikipedia. Just like a human, the older you get, the better you become! I have tremendously enjoyed adding information for you to record in addition to being able to build on what other people do, but I also know that I'm a tiny part of the entire editor base, for that I am grateful to have the support of other editors and to be able to adopt new ideas from the community! The internet really is a much greater place to have the reliable information you provide! The great thing about you is that you have such a large amount of editors that update information frequently with reliable citations and work according to a solid policy framework such as WP:NPOV (neutral point of view), WP:NOR (no original research), WP:GNG (the general notability guideline), WP:RS (reliable sourcing, the perennial sources list also lists sources of questionable quality that should not be used) in addition to many others! Hello from Lima, Peru! I'm a 16-year-old guy who will be 17 on January 20th. Throughout my life, the "free encyclopedia" has helped me with homework and my favorite rabbit holes. I hope Wikipedia remains ad-free, censorship-free, and bias-free. The world needs now, more than ever, a space where reason and facts matter more than hatred and personal interests.

I'm a rookie, but I think knowledge cannot be centralized, and I will not allow Wikipedia's reputation to be tarnished because of malicious external interests.

It's quite impressive that I used to edit the Portuguese Wikipedia, But after I was blocked there, everything changed. I developed a crisis of determination to show that my puppets weren't intended to be that way. And now I'm trying to go back there, regardless of cost. Without it I would just read articles with biases. Without it, we won’t be able to collaborate. Without it, news will be biased. Without it, we will often rely on outdated information. Without it, we will never discover new information that has not been here before. Without it, people will suffer reading many articles to just get a detailed view of a topic. Without it, LLMs will be dumber. Without it, we will go to libraries just to research for information for days. Without it, we cannot see other sources that we have never seen before. Without it, we will see censorship win. Without it, voice assistants cannot gather most information on the internet. Without it, nobody can access information for free. Without it, previously deleted information will never be heard. Without it, we will never have a central place for things with a standard format. Without it, people without a voice cannot be heard.
