Adoption

@Anotaomo: Please see my reply to you at the WP:Teahouse (diff) in which I suggest to you that the adoption process is really suited to users who already have got some editing experience under their belt and are able to demonstrate through their contribution history over some weeks or months, and across various topics, that they are committed to staying the course. As of today you have still not edited one single mainspace article, and that's not likely to encourage someone to invest their time to take you under their wing at this stage. Sorry. Looking for a mentor

Long term user requesting a mentor or supervisor.

Last night I changed my status to Semi-retired, in part due to over-reaction to a some wilder claims made against the project, in the media.

I had a chance to sleep on the situation, and decided to take a 1 month break (possibly longer), accepting that in over-reacting I may have upset or shocked other project contributors. Even before this there had been periodicaly recurrent concerns, about my edits being overly bold.

I would therefore like to try and set up some kind of mentored or guided return, Please do not consider the idea of a long term using being monitored or supervised to be any indication of wrongdoing.

The idea of long standing user within an academic community, requesting 'supervision' is not without precedent in the academic world, even when any focus of edits would by good faith attempt to keep clear of contentious topics.

Tenho percebido que a Wikipédia está narrando a sinopse completa dos filmes. Muitos filmes sobre os quais busco saber acerca do enredo, o que antes era um resumo, agora é cheio de spoiler. Lemos e já descobrimos o final, quem morre, quem vive, tudo é revelado. Não era assim. Tínhamos apenas um resumo sobre a sinopse, o que nos dava uma ideia do que seria o filme. Olá! Consta na Wikipédia que só fiz 7 edições, o que não é verdade. Consta a data do meu começo, ano 2014. Jamais teria apenas 7 edições. Portanto, eu já posso ter acesso à página de George Orwell. I (experienced user) am looking for a mentor to get adopted

Hello, I have some experience with many things to do within Wikipedia platform & read multiple articles so have fair idea about it. I am ready to help, however, am confused that where to start? Hi 36Flames, nice to meet you! If you want to be adopted you could ask one of the adopters on their talk page if they’d be willing (though keep in mind that not all of them may be active). You don’t have to go through that step if you don’t want, though, because the English Wikipedia has now enacted a mentorship program. While I'm certainly not going to stop you from looking if you like, 36Flames, your mentor Codename Noreste has been active as recently as today, and before that had edited every day for a week until yesterday. Is this inactive?

This page seems completely inactive because of the mentorship program. The last post here (which was also 1 month ago) was just referred to the mentorship program, which is this but automatically given to somebody? Just checking in in case I'm missing anything, otherwise, an RfC to mark this as historical makes lots of sense. FantasticWikiUser (talk) 17:12, 12 January 2026 (UTC)

I think there's no need to mark this as historical as long as it's not actively being harmful and so long as the adopters are active and responsive (e.g. it is true that I don't get many these days, but I'm always happy for new adoptees). I would be curious to see what other adopters think, though. Since we encourage prospective adoptees to reach out directly to adopters, activity on this talk page is not necessarily a good indicator of how the program is going, though the mentorship program does seem to pick up a lot of the work these days :). The difference I suppose would be that this page aims to support relatively inexperienced over completely new editors (I am not quite sure I like this, but that's something for another day).
