Archived discussion without a final decision from an admin
Hey! I participated in this ANI thread a while back and it was archived by a bot without any final say from an admin. I was wondering because since it was a lengthy thread, if an admin can review it and make a final decision. I don’t know the policy from what the policy for archived threads with no final say from an admin, so if it’s clarified here that would be great too! EvanTech10 (talk) 12:55, 25 April 2026 (UTC)
- You may restore an archived thread at any time, though of course we prefer unclosed threads. You will need to add a new signature with a new date. It may still end up unclosed. Izno (talk) 15:57, 25 April 2026 (UTC)
- So if i want to unarchive a thread, do I just copy the thread itself to ANI and delete the archived one? EvanTech10 (talk) 17:28, 25 April 2026 (UTC)
- Yes. (I just added WP:UNARCHIVE.) Izno (talk) 20:17, 25 April 2026 (UTC)

Important discovery
I just found an inactive page that lists all of the cleanup templates. Almost all of the cleanup templates have categories, and some categories have backlogs of 200+ not previously reported. I made to some of the backlogs, but the majority have not been searched. Please tell people about this and happy editing. The goat with a horn on his head (talk) 19:55, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
- Some of those backlogs have articles from 16 years ago that haven't been fixed. I think you should spread this elsewhere. We have some work to do... TheClocksAlwaysTurn (The Clockworks) (contribs) 20:05, 30 April 2026 (UTC)

- Probably other noticeboards, and if any articles fall under them, some wikiprojects. Maybe the task center could use it? TheClocksAlwaysTurn (The Clockworks) (contribs) 20:28, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
- Specifically what noticeboards? But will go to task Center The goat with a horn on his head (talk) 20:30, 30 April 2026 (UTC)

- I just published a notice on the front of the task center. The goat with a horn on his head (talk) 20:37, 30 April 2026 (UTC)

- Not sure why you say it's inactive, it averages 80 views per day and has edits to both its main page and its Talk page from earlier this month. Spamming editors about this arbitrarily does not seem appropriate. signed, Rosguill talk 20:36, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
- The page still has a very low number of views and usually 15 edits a year, that's what I mean. The goat with a horn on his head (talk) 20:37, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
- Also sorry for the spamming, the wild side got to me. The goat with a horn on his head (talk) 20:38, 30 April 2026 (UTC)

- That index doesn't actually list all the cleanup templates, though it is a helpful summary. For example, {{circular definition}} and {{long quote}} aren't listed. If you want a comprehensive list, see Category:Cleanup templates. If you're just interested in the backlogs, a better place to look is Wikipedia:Backlog (which is already linked in the "See also" list of the Task Center) for an overview, or you could directly browse the categories Category:Clean-up categories for a chronological view and Category:Wikipedia article cleanup to browse by problem. I don't think it makes sense to link to Wikipedia:Template index/Cleanup on the Wikipedia:Task Center as it's just a list of tags. Linking it on the Task Center might just encourage driveby tagging. The most appropriate place for it is probably {{Wikipedia templates}}, which is used on almost 200 pages in the Wikipedia namespace and on many user pages; however, it's already linked there so the page is already very widely linked. – Scyrme (talk) 21:27, 30 April 2026 (UTC)
Repeated content deletions and disruptive editing
I request help from Admins related to the page Elbridge Colby. Previously the user User:Sibshops has been deleting content. We agreed to discuss it on the talk page. The user deleted content again when I was away on a business trip and could not respond to them immediately. I request help from an admin to: 1. revert the deletion: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Elbridge_Colby&diff=prev&oldid=1355195337 Bring back the content. 2. Post a warning on top of the page about content being deleted so that other users know about it. 3. I would rephrase the critical language into neutral language, but the page cannot be edited at the moment. I agree to the protection AFTER the deleted content has been brought back. - YggdrasiII This page is for discussion about the operation of the Administrators' noticeboard, and is not the noticeboard itself. Grievances should be posted to the main noticeboard page. That said, admins do not intercede in content disputes, you need to work this out with the others. You already have a discussion open on the article talk page, that's where to begin. Please see the information I will place on your user talk page. 331dot (talk) 08:35, 24 May 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for clarifying, it is very confusing for new users. I will repost the help request accordingly YggdrasiII (talk) 09:52, 24 May 2026 (UTC)
AN/I navbar
Any particular reason that the noticeboard navbar has recently been set to pre-collapsed at AN/I? (I'm assuming that it's not displaying like that just for me) As the most frequented noticeboard, I would think that this one would benefit more than any other from having the full array of related venues displayed. Especially new editors that end up here erroneously and should be appraised of the alternatives are unlikely to even figure out how to unfold this bar. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 17:00, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- (Non-administrator comment) Took a look at the header of the noticeboard, which is at here, and the summary that changed it yesterday says "Fix scrolling nightmare". To me it didn't seem that the header made it a nightmare to scroll, now I wonder what was going on. SuperJames888 (Talk to me) 17:08, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- I assume it was "has a ton of links that aren't directly pertinent to this noticeboard". Personally I dislike this specific navbox's location and find it has minimal utility; it was boldly added some time ago without anyone actively agreeing to it. Additionally, banner blindness is key in making it rather useless. Newbies particularly won't be able to use it effectively because of the use of shortened names. It's not obvious these are all referring to noticeboards. (And adding noticeboard back in will simply add to the length, so the not-newbie will be annoyed at that.)
- I think collapsing is sufficient from my point of view to render it a reasonable inclusion on the page. I'd prefer to get rid of it and to add some prominent link to WP:Dispute resolution or some to-be-created WP:Noticeboards instead (which we have now but which could be better-integrated into the general header...). Izno (talk) 17:15, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- I reverted it back, though I didn't have knowledge of this thread existing when I did. I disagree for it being useless, since I use it fairly frequently to go from noticeboard to noticeboard. But I'm fine to self revert if people think it would be better collapsed. 45dogs (they/them) (talk page) (contributions) 03:47, 26 May 2026 (UTC)
