Unsubscribe?

Hi, I always get messages by Edwards Bot to come meet. I'm from Maryland but live in Europe and will probably never be able to come to a meeting. How to I unsubscribe? --Daveblack (talk) 11:40, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

Community Wishlist Survey 2019

I'm sure WM-DC is limited in outreach to watchlist notices and mailing lists. In 2016, WM-NYC filed a task to allow CentralNotice (the banners on top of article pages) to target readers in local areas. Efforts have stalled and to spur progress it would be great if you could support it in the Community Wishlist Survey. Voting ends November 30.

An example, CentralNotices were ran for Wikipedia's 10th birthday. We had to cut pre-registration early, unable to accommodate the shear number of people signing up. Subsequent birthdays had at most 1/10 the RSVPs. — Dispenser 03:50, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

HR from Library of Congress

Hi, Could anyone go to the LoC to get some files? See c:COM:VP#HR from Library of Congress. Regards, Yann (talk) 18:43, 25 March 2019 (UTC)

We don't encourage vandalism. Why did you?

Whomever is behind the Wikimedia DC Twitter should explain why they re-tweeted an encouragement of this vandalism. Chris Troutman (talk) 23:08, 30 June 2019 (UTC)

Anyone in DC able to take a photo at Dumbarton Oaks?

Hi all, I'm working on the article serpent labret with articulated tongue, and plan to nominate it at FAC shortly. The gallery section currently includes several images of similar labrets. Dumbarton Oaks holds another example (link), but is unwilling to license its own photo for use on Wikipedia. Any chance someone lives nearby and might be able to take a photo for use here? Thanks, --Usernameunique (talk) 22:22, 13 February 2026 (UTC)

Why yes, I live just a few blocks away! Happy to take a photo for you. Oh-Fortuna! (talk) 14:01, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
They open in two hours, and I'll go right over. It's a 10-minute walk. More soon. Oh-Fortuna! (talk) 14:36, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
That's awesome—thanks so much, Oh-Fortuna!! If you could please take a couple photos, and also one of whatever display placard there is describing it, that would be great. --Usernameunique (talk) 14:55, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
Done! (1) Photo 1. (2) Photo 2. (3) Description. The lighting was really tough because it's in a bright room with lots of glass and glare was everywhere. Oh-Fortuna! (talk) 18:05, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
That's great, thanks so much! The first photo is perfect; I'll crop it and add it to the page later today. Interesting that the description says Eagle Labret, when the longer description on their site is equivocal. --Usernameunique (talk) 18:40, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
One also says Mixtec and the other Aztec, but I made sure the item # was the same. They have a small staff, so one person describing it might not have known about the other. It's a tiny museum. ~~~ Oh-Fortuna! (talk) 18:56, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
