EA Bright Light (anteriormente conocida como EA UK) fue una desarrolladora británica de videojuegos fundada en 1995 por Electronic Arts. El estudio era conocido principalmente por su trabajo en franquicias con licencia, como la adaptación a videojuego de la saga Harry Potter. En 2019, existía una filial conocida como EA UK, aunque dedicada a la publicación de videojuegos.

Historia
EA UK fue fundada en Chertsey, Inglaterra, Reino Unido en 1995 por Electronic Arts. En 2001, Bullfrog Productions se fusionó con EA UK, heredando así franquicias como Populous, Dungeon Keeper, Syndicate y Theme Park.[3]
Inicialmente centrado en el desarrollo de propiedad intelectual original, el estudio lanzó varios títulos bien recibidos como Zubo, el primer título de EA exclusivo para Nintendo DS, en 2008.[4] Sin embargo, el título fue un fracaso comercial, lo que obligó a la compañía a modificar su política y a centrarse en el desarrollo de juegos casuales y juegos dirigidos a un público más joven.[2] En años posteriores, también trabajaron en franquicias con licencia, como la adaptación a videojuego de la serie Harry Potter, que en general recibió críticas mixtas.[5] La compañía también trabajó en algunas adaptaciones de juegos de mesa relacionadas con Hasbro, como Hasbro Family Game Night, que se lanzó en 2008.[6]
EA UK pasó a llamarse EA Bright Light en 2008, y su sede se trasladó a Guildford, Inglaterra, Reino Unido.[7] En 2011, tras la finalización de la película y la franquicia de videojuegos de Harry Potter, Electronic Arts inició un proceso de consulta para cerrar EA Bright Light con el fin de "ayudar a centralizar el desarrollo de futuros proyectos, reducir los costes de desarrollo y permitir un mejor intercambio de conocimientos y talento dentro de la organización".[8] Tras el lanzamiento de su último título, Harry Potter y las Reliquias de la Muerte - Parte 2, Electronic Arts cerró silenciosamente EA Bright Light a finales de 2011.[9] La mayoría de los empleados de Bright Light se unieron a Criterion Games y Playfish, las dos filiales restantes de Electronic Arts en el Reino Unido,[10] mientras que otros se unieron a Jagex y Supermassive Games.[2]
A pesar de que EA declaró que Bright Light reviviría varias propiedades intelectuales de Bullfrog, ninguno de los títulos se desarrolló antes del cierre de la compañía.[11] Antes del cierre de la empresa, se sabe que estaban desarrollando un título relacionado con Maxis.[2]
