The Coastguards is a Japanese melodic hardcore band from Kashiwa, Chiba. The band was formed in 2011 by Hajime Takei (OCEANLANE) and Masashi "Marcy" Shimada (kamomekamome, BUDDHISTSON). They went into the studio in 2012 with friends and made many songs. The next year saw the release of their demo, and many shows throughout East Japan. In 2014, The Coastguards released 1st 7inch "The Dead End E.P" from Plastic Pride, and in 2014 the band released 1st full length "I Refuse" from IKKI NOT DEAD, and embarked upon their first JAPAN tour.
