エリク・フルテン

セーデルマンランド県のHallaに生まれた。ストックホルム大学を卒業し、ルンドの植物博物館の学芸員として働いた。ルンド大学で博士号を得て、1945年から1961年までルンド大学で働いた。ストックホルムの自然史博物館の（Naturhistoriska riksmuseet）の教授、植物学部門の長を務めた。

北欧諸国および、シベリアおよびアリューシャン列島の調査旅行の結果のモノグラフを発表した。北半球の植物を調べ、アラスカ、アリューシャンの植物を記載した。アラスカ、アリューシャンの植物とシベリアの植物との近似性を見出し、氷期にアラスとシベリアの間に地峡（ベーリング地峡）が存在したことを証明した研究者の最初の一人である。

セリ科の種、Ligusticum hulteniiや、ヤナギ科の種、Salix hulteniiに献名されている。
