ホアン・リンス

ドイツ・ボンで生まれ、スペインに移住。マドリード大学卒業後、1959年にコロンビア大学から博士号取得。コロンビア大学社会学部助教授・准教授を経て、教授。　

政治体制、とくに権威主義体制および民主化の研究で知られる。1996年、ヨハン・スクデ政治学賞を受賞。
