レイモンド・ガーソフ

1948年プリンストン大学卒業後、イェール大学で修士号（1949年）と博士号（1951年）を取得。ソ連担当の研究員としてランド研究所への勤務（1950-57年）、その後陸軍外交問題顧問（1957-61年）を務める。その後1961年から68年までは国務省のソ連圏政治・軍事問題の特別補佐官を経験する。米国北大西洋条約機構代表部顧問（1968-1970年）を経て、国務省政治・軍事局（PM）次長（1970-73年）などを歴任し、駐ブルガリア大使も務めた。

実務者としての経験の他に、ジョージ・ワシントン大学、ジョンズ・ホプキンス大学でも講師を務めた。
