Daniel Miller (* 24. März 1954 in London) ist ein britischer Kulturanthropologe und Hochschullehrer.[1]
Leben und Wirken
Daniel Miller studierte Ethnologie und Archäologie an der University of Cambridge. Nach seiner Bachelor- bzw. Magisterprüfung promovierte er an dieser Universität im Jahre 1983 zum Ph.D. Bereits seit 1981 arbeitet er als Hochschullehrer am University College London, zunächst als Dozent, seit 1995 als Professor. Als Kulturanthropologe beschäftigt er sich vor allem mit der materiellen Kultur und legt hierüber zahlreiche Veröffentlichungen vor, etwa über Kleidung, Internet, Facebook und Smartphones in der menschlichen Kommunikation. Besondere Schwerpunkte sind das Konsumverhalten, das Einkaufen und die digitale Ethnologie. Zwei seiner Bücher wurden auch ins Deutsche übersetzt. Im Jahre 2008 wurde Daniel Miller Mitglied der British Academy.[2]
