Deryck Scarr

Deryck Anthony Scarr (* 7. September 1939 in Newbury/Berkshire; † 29. März 2024 in Canberra) war ein britisch-australischer Historiker und Hochschullehrer.[1]
Leben und Wirken
Deryck Scarr studierte Geschichte an der University of Exeter und erwarb dort 1961 den Bachelorgrad. Er setzte dann sein Studium an der Australian National University in Canberra fort und promovierte dort 1965 zum Ph.D. auf dem Gebiet der Geschichte des Pazifischen Raumes. Von 1965 bis zu seinem Eintritt in den Ruhestand 1997 arbeitete er als Hochschullehrer an dieser Universität und publizierte mehrere Werke zur Geschichte der Inseln im Pazifik. Lange Zeit war er Herausgeber der Zeitschrift "Journal of Pacific History".
Als Gastdozent war Scarr 1982 und 1989 außerdem an der University of Adelaide tätig.
