Kim Brandstrup (* 9. Januar 1957 in Aarhus/Region Midtjylland) ist ein dänischer Tänzer und Choreograph.
Leben
Brandstrup studierte Musik und Film an der Universität Kopenhagen. Nach achtzehnmonatiger Vorbereitung wurde er 1980 an der London Contemporary Dance School aufgenommen, wo er von Nina Fonaroff unterrichtet wurde. 1985 gründete er in London die The Arc Dance Company, die er während ihres gesamten Bestehens bis 2006 leitete. Als freiberuflicher Choreograph arbeitete er für das Ballett (u. a. The Royal Ballet, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, The Royal Danish Ballet), die Oper, das Theater und den Film. Seine Choreographie Orfeo für das London Contemporary Dance Theatre wurde 1990 mit dem Laurence-Olivier-Award als beste Choreographie ausgezeichnet. Beim Ibsen-Festival in Norwegen präsentierte er 1990 seine Ballettversion des Peer Gynt. Am Grand Théâtre de Genève führte er 1991 Le Sacre du Printemps auf. Am Royal Opera House gab er von 2001 bis 2005 für Choreographen die DanceLines-Sommerkurse.
