Mary Beth Norton (* 25. März 1943[1]) ist eine US-amerikanische Historikerin und emeritierte Professorin der Cornell University.[2] Sie ist seit 1999 Mitglied der American Academy of Arts and Sciences.[3] 2008/09 amtierte sie als Präsidentin der Society of American Historians (SAH)[4] und 2018 als Präsidentin der American Historical Association (AHA).[5]
Ihr Forschungsschwerpunkt liegt auf Gender und Politik in den frühen USA.[3] Ihre Einbeziehung der Frauengeschichte in die Erforschung der Kolonialzeit und der Amerikanischen Revolution wird als revolutionär bezeichnet.[6]
2021 wurde sie für ihr Buch 1774. The long year of Revolution mit dem George Washington Book Prize ausgezeichnet.[7] 1970 hatte sie den Allan Nevins Prize zugesprochen bekommen.[8]
