Michiko Yamamoto (japanisch 山本 美智子, Yamamoto Michiko; * 2. April 1979 in Bulacan) ist eine philippinische Drehbuchautorin und Filmproduzentin.[1] Bekannt wurde sie mit Drehbüchern für Filme wie Magnifico (2003), The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros (2006), Remington and the Curse of the Zombadings (2013), On the Job – Showdown in Manila (2013)[2], und Honor Thy Father (2015).

Leben und Werk
Yamamoto wurde 1979 in Bulacan auf den Philippinen geboren. Sie besuchte katholische Schulen und schloss ihr Studium an der Universität Santo Tomas (UST) mit einem Bachelor of Science in Mathematik und Informatik ab.[1]
Yamamotos erstes Drehbuch war Magnifico aus dem Jahr 2003, mit dem sie den ersten Platz in einem Drehbuchwettbewerb gewann. Sie sagte, das Drehbuch zu Magnifico sei von einer persönlichen Erfahrung mit ihrer verstorbenen Großmutter inspiriert worden.
2006 schrieb sie das Drehbuch für das Coming-of age-Drama The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros mit einem schwulen Thema, bei dem Auraeus Solito sein Debüt als Spielfilmregisseur gab. Der Film gewann den Jurypreis beim Cinemalaya Film Festival 2005 und war der erste Film, den sie mit ihrer eigenen Filmgesellschaft UFO Pictures, Inc. produzierte. 2013 schrieb Yamamoto gemeinsam mit Raymond Lee und Jade Castro das Drehbuch zu Remington and the Curse of the Zombadings und mit Erik Matti das Drehbuch zu On the Job – Showdown in Manila. Sie arbeitete mit Matti an den Filmen Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles 2 aus dem Jahr 2014 und Honor Thy Father aus dem Jahr 2015 zusammen.[3]
