Neil Price

Neil Price studierte Mittelalterarchäologie am University College London und erwarb dort 1988 den Bachelorgrad. Sein Studium setzte er dann an der University of York fort. Bereits während seiner Studienzeit nahm er an mehreren Ausgrabungen teil, zunächst im Raum London und dann in der Region York. Nach seinem ersten Besuch in Skandinavien 1990 emigrierte er im Jahre 1992 nach Schweden. Dort folgte eine weitere Tätigkeit bei Ausgrabungen, u. a. in Birka. Seit 1997 war er an der Universität Uppsala tätig und promovierte 1992 an dieser Universität. Weitere Lehrtätigkeiten hatte er an der Universität Stockholm und an der Universität Oslo inne. 2007 übernahm er eine Professur an der University of Aberdeen. Seit 2014 lehrt Neil Price als Professor an der Universität Uppsala. Seit Beginn der Beschäftigung mit der historischen Archäologie bzw. Mittelalterarchäologie entwickelte sich Price zu einem Experten auf dem Gebiet der Erforschung der Wikingerzeit. Auf seinen Forschungsreisen beschäftigt er sich außerdem über die Archäologie in Gebieten Asiens und des Pazifiks und nimmt Gastprofessuren an verschiedenen Universitäten wahr. Neben seinen Buchveröffentlichungen wirkt er in Film und Fernsehen mit.

Im Jahre 2017 wurde Neil Price Mitglied der Royal Society of Edinburgh.^[2]
