Paul Sillitoe

Paul Sillitoe studierte Ethnologie an der University of Durham. Dort erwarb er 1971 den Bachelor- und 1973 den Magistergrad. Ethnologische Feldforschungen betrieb er 1969 in Finnland und Norwegen, 1973 in Papua-Neuguinea und später (1996) in Bangladesh. Seine Promotion zum Ph.D. erfolgte 1976 an der University of Cambridge. Als Hochschullehrer arbeitete Sillitoe von 1978 bis 1980 an der University of Manchester und von 1980 bis 1984 als Dozent an der La Trobe University in Australien. Im Jahre 1984 wurde er Dozent an der University of Durham, seit 1997 lehrt er dort als Professor für Ethnologie. 2006 wurde Paul Sillitoe Mitglied der British Academy.^[2] In seinen Veröffentlichungen beschäftigt sich Paul Sillitoe vor allem mit den indigenen Völkern in Papua-Neuguinea bzw. Melanesien, insbesondere mit der landwirtschaftlichen Entwicklung.
