Siduction ist eine auf Debian unstable aufbauende, nicht kommerzielle Linux-Distribution für Desktop-Computer und Notebooks. Sie entstand 2011 als Abspaltung der Distribution Aptosid.[2]

Name
Der Name ist ein Kofferwort aus dem Codenamen Sid für Debian unstable und dem englischen Wort seduction („Verführung“).[3]
Veröffentlichungen
Siduction erscheint als Rolling Release, d. h. es gibt keine Versionssprünge; jede Installation folgt durch regelmäßige Softwareupdates der laufenden Entwicklung, die ihrerseits dem „unstable“-Zweig des Debian-Projekts folgt.
Neue Versionen von Siduction sind an wesentliche Neuerungen in Debian unstable oder in den unterstützten Desktop-Umgebungen gekoppelt. Es wird angestrebt, zwei- bis viermal jährlich eine neue Version von Siduction zu veröffentlichen; aufgrund der Natur des Projekts als Rolling Release handelt es sich dabei um Schnappschüsse der stufenlos laufenden Entwicklung. Einen festen Zeitplan für diese Releases gibt es nicht.[4]
Ab Version 2013.2 nutzt Siduction systemd als Init-System.[5]
