Needham Hurst founded his dry goods company in 1938, expanding into dried beans in 1947, and it's still owned by the 4th generation of the family, in 2026. The company's 15 bean soup mix is the top-selling dried bean product in the United States.[3]

Every package of 15 Bean Soup includes a seasoning packet and at least 15 of the following varieties of dried pulses:[4]
