The Seventeenth Odisha Legislative Assembly was constituted after the 2024 Odisha Legislative Assembly elections, which were concluded on 1 June 2024, and the previous assembly term ending on 24 June 2024.[1][2]

Brief history
Following BJP's win 2024 election, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi along with his two deputy CMs, 8 Cabinet Ministers, and 5 Minister of State with Independent Charges were adminstered their oath of office and oath of secrecy by Governor Raghubar Das at Janata Maidan, Bhubaneswar on 12 June 2024. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, along with Chief Ministers of 10 BJP ruled states were present at the venue.[3][4][5]
In 2025, BJP won the highly contested Nuapada bypoll in a landslide, increasing their tally to 79.[6]
Following cross voting in 2026 Rajya sabha polls, 3 members from INC & 8 members from BJD were suspended from their respective parties for ''anti party activities''. Both parties have filed disqualification petition against these members with the Speaker. As the members were elected against party symbol, they are still considered as party member in the assembly, but there seatings has been changed to reflect their suspension. They will continue to be member of the house unless otherwise.[7][8]
